JOB DETAILS:
The PEPFAR-funded Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Global Health Consortium (GHC) project is designed to transform clinical HIV practice to provide high quality, comprehensive, inter-professional care, and treatment to people living with HIV with the ultimate goal of improving the quality of healthcare, clinic workflow, and team building leading to improved health outcomes.
Meharry Medical College Global Health and HIV Clinical Services is a consortium of the HBCU project and is currently implementing projects aimed at improving the quality of care for mothers and babies in selected Ministry of Health (MOH) healthcare facilities in the country. Meharry is working on expanding its work to additional MOH facilities. As a result of this expansion, the project is recruiting for the following full-time positions to be based at the scale up sites in Lusaka.
MCH Nurse Practitioner – Four (4) positions
Reporting to the Senior MCH Nurse Practitioner, .

The nurse practitioner will:
• Participate in paediatric HIV activities meeting the 95:95:95 targets at the facility.
• Provide competent and efficient nursing services to pregnant moms and babies receiving clinical care in the MCH at the facility, especially HIV-positive pregnant moms and HIV-exposed babies.
• Monitor clinic flow with MCH staff to eliminate long wait times and to improve patient satisfaction with delivered clinical services.
• Coordinate and manage team-based pediatric HIV care for clinical services for early-infant diagnosis (EID), linkage, and retention.
• Direct care coordination/case management for ART for moms and other clinical resources including psychosocial support such as the mentoring moms/moms-2-moms programs.
• Lead the implementation of tracking moms and babies pairing for care coordination, adherence, and retention to ensure meeting the 95:95:95 targets.
• Coordinate and participate as a team member to ensure rapid return of dried blood spot (DBS) test results for EID.
• Train MCH and volunteer staff to implement appointment tracking system that identifies patients lost to care.
• Participate in the administration of the moms-2-moms program with the lead Social Workers and Community Health Workers.
• Participate in the team’s continuous quality improvement process using the Plan-Do-Study-Act methods.
• Participate in the collection as well as extraction of patient data including MERs with particular emphasis on PMTCT.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by Meharry Management.

Skills and qualifications
• Registered Nurse Practitioner or Midwife with at least 5 years’ experience in a GRZ healthcare facility.
• Registered with the General Nursing Council of Zambia
• Knowledge on current paediatric, PMTCT HIV treatment guidelines including adherence support and adverse drug reactions monitoring.
• Experience working in paediatric HIV care in Ministry of Health facility, a U.S. government and/or PEPFAR-supported project.
• Knowledge of health facility, screening tools, registries, client files and other necessary clinical documents.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, set priorities and meet deadlines.
• Fluency in English; excellent written and oral communication skills, including facilitation and cross-cultural communication; attention to detail.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
