JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose
The Mechanical Fitter will fit and assemble metal parts to fabricate production machines and other equipment. Maintain and repair mechanical plant machinery and equipment to operational standards. Test and identify defective or worn mechanical components or equipment. Mechanical fitters also use precision measuring instruments to check parts for accuracy and fit.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:
• Analyzing the blueprints for mechanical systems to determine the specifications of the components to be constructed.
• Execute all mechanical maintenance, installation and repairs ensuring efficient operations.
• Constructing structural components from raw materials
• Using welding equipment to fuse structural components
• Inspecting fabricated components to ensure that they are the correct size.
• Utilizing shears, power saws, cutting torches, and chipper knives to cut structural components as needed.
• Creating a suitable maintenance schedule and performing system maintenance accordingly.
• Identify and resolve issues associated with mechanical breakdown corrective maintenance at assigned location
• Conducting diagnostic testing on malfunctioning systems to determine the root cause of the malfunction.
• Replacing damaged or defective structural components as needed.
• Adhering to all work-site safety rules and regulations.

Primary Areas of Accountability:
Qualifications and Experience
• Full Grade 12 School Certificate
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (from reputable institution/college)
• Must have a minimum of at least 2+ years previous work experience as a fitter
• Must have a Class C/higher driver’s license.
• Ability to show initiative
• Ability to interpret blueprints for mechanical systems.
• Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (Must be a fully paid up)

Level of Education: Postgraduate Degree
