JOB DETAILS:
Position Summary:
The Automotive Electrician will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing the electrical systems of heavy mining equipment, ensuring their safe and efficient operation. The role requires expertise in troubleshooting electrical faults, performing installations, and conducting preventative maintenance on a variety of mining vehicles and machinery.

Key Responsibilities:
• Electrical Maintenance & Repair:
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults on mining equipment, including dump trucks, loaders, graders, and other heavy-duty vehicles.
• Install, inspect, and test electrical systems and components such as alternators, starters, lighting systems, and wiring harnesses.
• Perform scheduled maintenance checks on electrical systems to ensure safety and operational reliability.
• Diagnostics & Troubleshooting:
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and fix electrical issues on equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical and electronic issues within onboard control systems.
• Component Replacement & Upgrades:
• Replace faulty wiring, connectors, switches, and other electrical components as needed.
• Install new or upgraded electrical systems as directed, including modifications for specialized mining needs.
• Safety Compliance:
• Adhere to all safety regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of electrical systems.
• Ensure compliance with mine site health and safety standards at all times, especially when working on high-voltage systems.
• Documentation & Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance tasks, and parts replacements.
• Report on electrical issues, service completion, and any safety hazards to supervisors.

Skills & Qualifications:
• Education & Certification:
• Certification in Automotive Electrical or Heavy-Duty Electrical Systems.
• Relevant trade qualifications as an Automotive Electrician (e.g., Red Seal or equivalent) are advantageous.
• Experience:
• Proven experience working as an automotive or heavy-duty electrician, ideally within a mining or industrial setting.
• Familiarity with heavy-duty mining equipment electrical systems.
• Technical Skills:
• Strong diagnostic skills using electrical diagnostic tools and software.
• Knowledge of vehicle electronics, CAN bus systems, and high-voltage safety protocols.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and technical manuals.
