Our client, a Global Healthcare and Crop Science Innovation company, is seeking to recruit a Seed Quality Technician. The successful job holder will supervise all activities related to the Quality Assurance of Seed Products at the Seed Processing Plant. The successful candidate will advise production team on measures to improve or maintain product quality during seed processing.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote an actively caring culture for safety amongst all personnel, contractors and visitors
- To give technical advice to plant supervisors and operators regarding processing activities in order to maintain high seed quality during processing.
- Adhere to the implementation and upkeep of the Quality Management System in the plant.
- Assist in the collection of reliable data which can be applied in continual improvement for processing activities
- Continuously monitor plant production processes from receiving to final product to ensure that a high standard of quality is maintained.
- Generate reports and incident rates required for the evaluation and measurement of our quality program.
- Collaborate with site personnel on internal/external audits, trending efforts, non-conformance investigations and associated corrective and/or preventive action.
- Responsible for the sampling of all grower seeds at warehouse intake to ensure it is tested and meets quality standards
- Conducting pre-processing defects tests on all seeds staged for processing to ensure defective batches are not treated and bagged.
- Perform in-processing checks (defects testing, weights, stitching, labelling) to ensure defective seed/bags are reworked
- Acting as custodian for official SCCI labels
- Sampling of final product for certification by the laboratory
- Assist in grow outs planting and data collection
- Sampling of all carryover seeds at warehouse for usage decision tests
- Supporting field quality processes when required.
Requirements
- Degree in Agricultural Science or a related field.
- Valid Seed Inspectors License
- Must be a member of the Agricultural Institute of Zambia.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar role
- Should have practical data analysis skill and working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
- Must be inclined to being agile and oriented to achieving results.
- Must possess good written and verbal communication skills and must be well organised.
- Must demonstrate technical and analytical ability in the agriculture space.
- Should be able to foster relationships and networking but also work independently.
- Should have the ability to manage work pressure and display a satisfactory level of reliability and discipline
