JOB DETAILS:
Position title: Principal Investigator
The Principal Investigator (PI) will provide technical and management leadership to the project and ensure successful implementation of the work plan and achievement of the project’s targets and goals within budget. The PI will be responsible for providing technical and management leadership to the project as well as the day to day running of the project. He/she will ensure the implementation and application of sound evidence based technical strategies, activities and best practices in line with the existing FHI 360 rules, regulations and appropriate national guidelines. The PI will also have overall responsibility for administration, program management, performance monitoring and technical implementation of HIV/TB prevention and case finding activities as contained in the workplan. .

Job Responsibilities:
1. Provides leadership and oversight in all technical, program and financial activities.
2. Provide leadership in program planning, designing and the development of key strategies, activities, workplans and ensure cost effective implementation of all key intervention areas in line with project goals.
3. Supervise and coordinate appropriate technical Staff to effectively and efficiently implement technical strategies/activities and meet appropriate key timelines and project targets
4. Conduct site visits to designated Provincial health offices and provide technical assistance to these sites to ensure that interventions are implemented, and data collected is accurate, reliable, feasible and done efficiently.
5. Responsible for the preparation of key reports i.e. monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports to key stakeholders and donors as needed.
6. Provide high level representation of the project to all key partners and Zambian Government (GRZ) stakeholders and in line FHI 360 norms.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:
1. Experience and knowledge in working with HIV treatment and/or PMTCT and TB health programs in Zambia
2. Strong knowledge of HIV/AIDS programming and monitoring.
3. Sensitivity to cultural differences and understanding of the political and ethical issues surrounding HIV infections.
4. Demonstrated ability through previous experience leading the provision of technical assistance through evidence and data driven decision making
5. Previous experience working with CDC or PEPFAR-supported program and organizations
6. A minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior management position for large, complex, multi-year international health sector development projects that have implemented successful activities in areas such as HIV/TB prevention, care and treatment among all populations including key and vulnerable populations, preferably in Zambia
7. Ability to work well with others and to develop and maintain compatibility among project staff, partners and subcontractors.
8. Well-developed oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
9. Computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft word, excel and PowerPoint.
10. Ability to undertake extensive local travel, and some international travel.
11. Ability to network and interact, as well as support effective partnerships with key stakeholders, groups and individuals.
12. Doctor or Social Scientist with an appropriate first degree.
13. A holder of master’ degree in relevant field such as MPH, MSc will be a plus.
14. 10+ years’ experience in public health, including HIV/AIDS programs
15. Experience of care and support for HIV/AIDS at the clinical level and sound understanding programmatic technical areas is desirable
16. Familiarity with Zambian public sector health system.
