GRANT COORDINATOR BASED IN KIGALI, RWANDA
PURPOSE
WfWI – Rwanda seeks a dynamic and experienced candidate for the position of Grant Coordinator. The position is responsible for performing grant-related post-award functions, including budget and expense analysis, periodic invoicing, financial reporting, labor distribution changes, reconciliations, re-budgeting, and grant closeout functions required by grants and contracts administration. S/He is responsible for maintaining financial, accounting and grant support services to meet the needs of the organization and the donor, and preparing financial statements, maintaining cash controls, providing financial reporting and analysis to support the program.
The Grant Coordinator will support the program team in donor proposal writing and focus heavily on budgeting, compliance, reporting, and variance analysis functions. The position reports to the Finance & Logistics Manager.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Coordinate with Rwanda program team to prepare a high-quality proposal budget as needed
Support program team in donor proposal writing
• Perform grant-related post-award functions, including budget and expense analysis, periodic invoicing, financial reporting, labor distribution changes, reconciliations, re-budgeting, and grant closeout functions required by grants and contracts administration.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial reports to donors as required.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial reports on grants for internal management purposes.
• Work with the Finance & Logistics Manager on cash flow forecasts for programs.
• Review invoices and provide account codes, when appropriate, for proper project accounting.
• Produce a budget and expense analysis report.
• Prepare and distribute periodic invoices for project reimbursement.
• Work with the Program Managers in the development of forecasts, budgets and budget revisions for programs.
• Communicate monthly financial results with appropriate program staff, informing them of the financial position of the project.
• Coordinate with the Finance & Logistics Manager to process journal entries to various projects if needed.
• Ensure compliance of grants with policies/procedures and donor rules/regulations, including USAID.
• Perform ad-hoc financial analysis in response to requests or to provide support to various programs.
• Coordinate the monthly review and reconciliation of cash including receipt of monthly bank statements.
Support required audits
• Identify and recommend cost savings initiatives for program activities and the organization
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
• At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting or other relevant disciplines.
• CPA, ACCA or equivalent designation is preferred;
• At least three (3) years’ work experience in Accounting or Finance position with full accounting and budgeting responsibilities preferably within the INGO environment
• Excellent computer skills including spreadsheet, database, word processing, presentation, and email along with data entry experience; proficiency in QuickBooks Pro accounting software;
• Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities;
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion is required;
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and to take initiative;
• Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
