JOB DETAILS:
We are currently looking for 2 Extension officers to be based in Senanga and Mongu, working in the communities in Mongu, Senanga, Sioma and Sesheke districts.
Organization:
Barotse Ranching and Cropping (BRC) was established in 2018, and is situated in Sioma Village, Senanga district. BRC was established as a commercial farming enterprise with both crops and livestock and a demonstration facility for capacity building to train small-scale, emerging farmers and extension officers. The farm is now opening several outgrower schemes for small-scale farmers and is establishing a professional value addition centre. It plans to work with around 2000 small-scale farmers in the following years.
The roles of Extension officer:
The officer is responsible for any communication and activities with small-scale farmers or connected to projects involving small-scale farmers at the company. Extension officer is responsible for, mobilization of small-scale farmers, quality delivery of a variety of trainings, follow-ups on implementation of activities of respective beneficiaries according to the monthly schedule. He/she is responsible for regular and quality communication with communities and district stakeholders. He/she is responsible for writing weekly and monthly plans and reports and for accurate and timely accountancy.
Key relationships:
Project manager, fellow Extension officers, management of the company .

Job description/responsibilities
• Mobilization and sensitization of small-scale farmers and communities
• Delivering trainings, workshops, demonstrations, community meetings
• Participation in meetings with representatives of the cooperatives, farmers, communities, etc.
• Realization of follow-ups and monitoring in the communities and farmers
• Translations from English to Silozi and back (translation during meetings with farmers and communities, translations of manuals)
• Supplying of regular reports on the progress of work to the project manager and project coordinator
• Timely and correct accounting of all finances
• Promoting the project at various events, fares etc. upon the instruction of the project manager.
• Promoting the company among the farmers and other stakeholders
• Acting as an agent for the company to promote the company’s products

Requirements:
• Certificate/Diploma in Agriculture/Community Development and/or related fields
• Experience with agricultural projects, training on agricultural topics or working with small-scale farmers
• At least 5 years of experience in a similar position
• Computer literate (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Internet)
• Able to ride a motorbike (driving license necessary)
• Fluent in Nyanja, Silozi and English, both spoken and written word
• Motorbike driver’s license and at least 1 year of experience of active riding
• Available immediately
