Job Purpose: The ideal candidate will be responsible for scouting for potential mining projects and investments, ensuring their successful execution and alignment with organizational goals and objectives. Candidate should fully be conversant with the procedure involved in processing of exploration / mining licenses and be able to conduct structural data collection, sampling, geological survey and mapping, topographic mapping etc.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with traditional authorities in securing consent documentations, prepare and launch application for exploration and mining licenses with Cadastre Department and Ministry of Mines.
- Conducting field surveys and collecting data about rock formations, mineral content, geological anomalies, and environmental factors.
- Interpreting geological, geochemical, and geophysical data.
- Identifying and mapping prospective sites for exploration.
- Developing geological models to predict the location of mineral deposits.
- Working closely with mining engineers and other professionals to determine the feasibility of mining at a particular site.
- Providing recommendations on the viability of mining based on collected data and analysis.
- Preparing detailed reports and maps to document findings.
- Keeping up to date with advancements in geological science and technology.
- Develop and maintain relationships with including traditional authorities, consultants, partners, government agencies, financial institutions, and key stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop project proposals, business plans, and investment memorandums.
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively to ensure successful implementation and delivery.
- Identify and propose value chain ventures, joint ventures, acquisitions, buy outs and any other viable investment opportunities.
- Monitor and evaluate project performance against established KPIs, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, market dynamics, and regulatory developments to inform investment decisions and strategic planning.
- Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on project status, financial performance, and key milestones.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years proven experience in a similar role.
- Member of Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ)
- Excellent knowledge of and skills in fieldwork, sampling, data analysis and reporting.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate well with traditional authorities, government officials and key stakeholders.
- BSc in Metallurgy/ Geology or relevant field
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
