JOB DETAILS:
Maamba Energy Limited (MEL) is jointly owned by Nava Bharat Singapore Pte. Limited and ZCCM-IH Plc. The Company owns and operates a large-scale coal mine and has also constructed and operates a 300 Mega Watt Coal-fired Power Plant to cater for the growing demand for power in Zambia.
Maamba Energy Limited is looking for dynamic and enthusiastic professionals who want to build a career in a large and professionally managed company located in Maamba, Sinazongwe District, of Southern Province.
The successful candidate will be part of the Mining Department. The selected candidate will report to the Mine Superintendent. Female candidates are encouraged to apply for this role.

Purpose of the Role:
• To supervise, coordinate, and plan day-to-day mining and other related operations.
• Ensure efficient and safe deployment of employees and equipment in accordance with mining and explosives regulations.
• Aim to achieve company set goals.
• The job will be full-time and successful candidates must be ready to work in shifts.

Responsibilities:
• Operate as front-line supervisor.
• Supervise the loading, hauling, and dumping of coal products during shift operations.
• Quality control of coal products.
• Implementation of safety aspects and safe working procedures during shift operations.
• Coordinate the timely delivery of plans and other information to the operational group to safely achieve production targets.
• Undertake project work for operations as required.
• Supervise excavation, loading, hauling, dumping operations, and other assigned duties.
• Ensure that designs and subsequent drill and blast plans maximize coal extraction and minimize dilution.
• Supervise all blasting operations at the mines and all other sites within the mining Lease Areas.
• Provide supportive supervision, mentorship, and technical assistance to junior members of staff.
• Participate in performance appraisals.

Qualifications and Skills:
• Grade 12 School Certificate or equivalent.
• Either a Diploma in Mining Engineering or a Degree in Mining Engineering.
• At least four years of relevant practical mining experience.
• Must have a valid Zambian Blasting License and First Aid Certificate.
• Must have knowledge of the Mining, Environmental, and Explosives Regulations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Computer literacy and a Zambian driver’s license will be an added advantage.
