JOB DETAILS:
Cheshire Homes Society of Zambia (CHSZ) with funding from Christian Blind Mission (CBM) will be implementing a 4 year project in 3 districts of Lusaka province (Lusaka, Kafue and Chongwe) entitled: “Inclusion of children with neurodevelopmental disabilities”.
CHSZ is therefore looking for skilled Project Assistants (3).
The Project is funded by the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through CBM.
The consortium is composed of CHSZ CBID Programme (lead partner), Archie Hinchcliffe Disability Initiative (AHDI) and Zambia Association for Parents of Children with Disabilities (ZAPCD).
The project will lead to improved medical and rehabilitation services and home-based care for children with neurodevelopmental disabilities in the 3 districts of Lusaka Province.
Reporting to: Project Manager
Location: Lusaka, Zambia
Purpose of the Job
• Developing overall, annual and quarterly project activity plan, including project activities in collaboration with other project partners.
• Collaborating with communities, families, volunteers, local health centres and relevant OPDs regarding the implementation and monitoring of project activities in line with approved plans & procedures.
• Facilitating project activities including child identification, assessments and plan interventions; providing practical support to volunteers, physiotherapists and facilitating training.
• Participating in the project quality and monitoring quality indicators of the project.
• Producing activity reports for each activity implemented including monthly and quarterly narrative reports to the Project Manager.
• Coordinating with local partners to provide inputs for the periodical reports to be submitted to the Project Manager.
• Work with existing support groups and volunteers in target areas an establish where there are none
• Organise commemoration of national action days
• Undertake any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications:
• Degree or Diploma in Social Work, Development Studies, Project Management, any Social Science qualification and Physiotherapy. Neuro Developmental Therapy (NDT) training is an added advantage.
Other Essential Requirements:
• At least 2 years hands on work experience in neurodevelopmental rehabilitation, implementation and monitoring in any project/programme especially community based rehabilitation.
• Excellent report writing and data management skills.
• Experience in community mobilisation.
• Knowledge and understanding of key policy issues in disability and development.
• Computer literate (Microsoft Word and Excel).
• Fluent in written and spoken English language.
• Knowledge of key local languages of the catchment area
