JOB DETAILS:
Western Water and Sewerage Company (WWSC) is a Commercial Water Utility Company engaged in the business of providing water supply and sanitation services to its customers in the Urban and Peri- Urban areas of Western Province of Zambia.
In a bid to enhance service delivery and customer service management, Western Water and Sewerage Company Limited being an equal opportunities employer, is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to work as interns in the following positions:
Trainee Project Engineer (TPE) to be based at Head Office in Mongu. – (1)
Trainee Project Engineer (TPE) to be based in Kaoma District – (1)
Trainee Project Engineer (TPE) to be based in Senanga District – (1)
Trainee Project Engineer (TPE) to be based in Sesheke District. – (1)
Trainee Project Engineer (TPE) to be based in Mongu District. – (1)
JOB PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Infrastructure Development and Planning Engineer (Project Engineer) and to the District Manager for administrative purposes. The job holder shall be responsible for planning, coordination, monitoring and supervision of all engineering projects undertaken in the district in liaison with the District Manager, in order to ensure projects completion within timeframe, cost and quality specifications for improved service delivery. .
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Monitoring and supervision of all engineering projects undertaken in the company, in order to ensure projects completion within timeframe, cost and quality specifications for improved service delivery.
• Ensures the contractors and consultants adhere to the stipulated Terms of Reference and specification of works during execution of works.
• Prepares monthly project progress reports for Management information and decision making.
• Liaises with the District Manager to ensure smooth and effective operations for improved service delivery
• Prepares project proposals for the company in order to attract financing.
• Ensures production, treatment and distribution of adequate and high quality water, reduction in water losses and provision of cost effective sanitary services to customers through provision of efficient technical services.
• Develops and ensures implementation the Maintenance Management System in WWSC to achieve optimum equipment/plant performance.
• Proposes improvements in the design and deployment of plant and machinery for service improvement.
• Monitors adherence to safety, water quality, health issues in the company to ensure safe operating environment for all staff in the company by initiating emergency drills and spot audits.
REQUIRED COMPETENCES/PERSONAL QUALITIES:
• Ability to undertake complex audit assignments
• Good analytical skills
• Good communication skills (both written and oral)
• High level of honesty, integrity, objectivity and independence of thought
• Good initiative and personal organization
ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
• The candidate shall hold minimum qualification such as Degree in Water/Civil/Mechanical/or Chemical Engineering
• Should have a full Grade 12 certificate.
PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP:
• Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ).
