The Copperbelt University is a Public University established through an Act of Parliament No. 19 of 1987. Cleaners/Messenger (06 Positions)

Job Purpose
To provide cleaning services in an area to be assigned by the supervisor. In addition, a cleaner will be required to pick up and deliver confidential packages, documents, messages and other items between departments or offices for the university.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Delivers confidential messages and items, such as documents, newspapers and packages between departments, outside of the building or private residences.
• Spot clean where necessary
• To carry out cleaning duties as required including sweeping, dusting, Vacuuming, damp mopping and wiping, wall washing removing marks from glass, windows, doors and walls
• Empty bins daily
• Wipe and disinfect surfaces
• Clean lavatory basin with appropriate cleaner provided
• Where practicable ensure windows and doors are closed and locked when leaving rooms.
Performs any other cleaning related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience required
• Grade 12 or Form V Certificate minimum of 4 ‘O’ Levels with credit or better in English.
• A minimum of two (02) years of working experience is required.
Knowledge and Skills
• Accountable for office and other equipment and ensures that all equipment is kept in good condition.
• Must possess excellent communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills to interact with other staff.
• Ability to use various cleaning and office equipment.
Reporting Relationships
Immediate Supervisor: Cleaning Supervisor
Salary Scale: PSS 16

Work Hours: 8

Experience in Months: 24

Level of Education: High School
