Overview:
Jhpiego seeks a Technical Officer to provide technical and programmatic oversight for the Unitaid project aimed at reducing PPH-related mortality and morbidity. The Accelerating Measurable Progress and Leveraging Investments for PPH Impact (AMPLI-PPHI) project focuses on high-burden countries including Zambia. The project addresses barriers to policy adoption, procurement, supply, and service delivery, emphasizing demand generation for policymakers, providers, and patients.
Responsibilities:
• Ensure technical soundness and evidence-based alignment of the project.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the Zambian government, professional associations, and key stakeholders.
• Represent Jhpiego and the project’s achievements to donors and stakeholders through meetings and presentations.
• Advocate for WHO guidance on new PPH drugs in technical working groups and committees.
• Lead the review and adaptation of service delivery guidelines and capacity-building materials for health workers.
• Implement capacity-building strategies, including conducting master training sessions.
• Mentor country trainers to provide on-site training.
• Engage community-level stakeholders in program development.
• Collaborate with the MER team to support monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities.
• Draft and review project reports and technical documents.
• Coordinate learning activities and translate findings into programmatic guidance and policy advocacy.
• Identify training needs and assist in implementing measures to address those needs.
• Work closely with District Health Offices and Jhpiego home office staff to ensure effective project implementation.
• Ensure compliance with donor policies and regulations.
Required Qualifications:
• Five years of experience providing technical assistance and training in maternal and newborn health.
• Professional, licensed provider with demonstrated competency in clinical obstetric services.
• Experience advising and collaborating with the MOH at national and sub-national levels.
• Experience as a clinical trainer in basic emergency obstetric and newborn care (BEmONC) or similar.
• Demonstrated experience in trainer development.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and experience with healthcare systems in low and middle-income countries.
• In-depth understanding of and experience working in the local health system.
• Excellent diplomacy, technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently in a complex environment with multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Sensitivity to and experience working in diverse socioeconomic settings.
• Experience working with community-based volunteers (CBVs).
• Strong teamwork skills and computer literacy with Office 365.
• Fluent in written and spoken English preferred.
• Ability and willingness to travel 30%, both domestically and internationally.
