Resonance is currently seeking Governance and Partnerships Lead candidates to propose for an upcoming 5-year USAID-funded Zambia Alternatives to Charcoal project. The purpose of this activity is to promote energy alternatives to charcoal with the goal of reducing deforestation and forest degradation in certain provinces of Zambia. The position is contingent upon contract award.
The Governance and Partnerships Lead will report to the Chief of Party and manage a broad range of technical assistance, capacity development, and strategic partnerships for and with government actors, community-based organizations, private sector firms, and other stakeholders. The Governance and Partnerships Lead will supervise Resonance and consortium partner technical staff in their technical area and will report on the program progress. The Governance and Partnerships Lead is expected to have the management qualifications necessary to manage a complex USAID‐funded program.

  Essential Functions
• Lead the design of the and execution of program partnerships and collaboration with the private sector, government partners, NGOs, universities, other donors, and other organizations.
• Lead the identification of strategic approaches to multi-stakeholder dialogue, government and civil society engagement, and private sector partnerships;
• Support the COP and DCOP in the development of the project strategic framework and work plans for the program implementation to ensure the achievement of the program goals;
• Facilitate interaction, collaboration, and collective action between diverse stakeholders and leverage stakeholder networks to implement program strategies; facilitate public dialogue on governance and civic engagement between government and non-governmental actors; work with local public servants on reducing threats to forests by providing technical assistance and capacity building;
• Manage the documentation and sharing of implementation successes, challenges, and lessons learned and deliver technical presentations to implementing partners, civil society organizations, government officials, donors, corporate partners, and other organizations.
• Supervise staff working on behavior change, forest products, and policy initiatives within the program.

  Required Education and Experience
• Master’s Degree (or higher) in international affairs, law, public administration, public policy, business, forestry, clean energy, or a related field.
• Minimum of eight (8) years of program management and supervisory experience with a US Government foreign affairs agency, international assistance organization, or non-governmental organization
• Proven ability to managing and meet targets and deadlines for a project of over 1M/year with several workstreams
• Demonstrated capability to work with a broad range of local government, civil society and private sector stakeholders and partners; and demonstrated experience in liaising with high level representatives from both the public and private sectors.
• Demonstrated experience in sustainable forest management, household energy markets, and/or sustainable livelihoods and alternative forest products forest.
• Demonstrated experience managing cross-cultural teams working effectively in a teamwork environment as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience in providing technical assistance, including organizing and conducting workshops and trainings
Ability and interest to live and work in Lusaka, Zambia.
Preferred Education, Experience & Competencies
• Thorough understanding of USAID policies and procedures
• Three years of relevant work experience in Zambia
