Resonance is currently seeking Communications Manager candidates to propose for an upcoming 5-year USAID-funded Zambia Alternatives to Charcoal project. The purpose of this activity is to promote energy alternatives to charcoal with the goal of reducing deforestation and forest degradation in certain provinces of Zambia. The position is contingent upon contract award.
The Communications Manager will report to the Deputy Chief of Party and support program efforts by producing high-quality content that engages Zambian communities, local businesses, and government stakeholders. Main duties will also include creating informative content, campaigns, press releases, articles, and media opportunities to share the programs ideas and services and to promote behavior change and builds awareness around alternative fuels..

  Essential Functions
• Develop a program-wide communications strategy and appropriate templates and checklists to support the framework, in line with USAID branding and marking guidelines;
• Plan and manage informative and interesting awareness campaigns, press releases, press kits, newsletters, and other marketing materials.
• Develop and implement effective communication strategies that: build awareness of project to potential partners and beneficiaries; enhance consumer and community of partner and grantee products and services among Zambian communities; support behavior change for alternative energy and alternative livelihoods to charcoal.
• Supervise all external-facing communications projects to guarantee all content is publication-ready in terms of quality and branding requirements and is submitted by the deadline;
• Support communication and marketing strategies for project partners and grantees’ new services, products, launches, events, and promotions.

  Required Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in communications, journalism, media studies, business, international affairs or a related field
• Five (5) years of relevant communications experience, preferably around behavior change, social enterprise support, or open innovation and for a US Government foreign affairs agency, international assistance organization, or non-governmental organization
• Strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design, professional printing skills, including the ability to present concepts to mixed audiences
• Understanding of USAID branding and marking policies and procedures
• A wide degree of creativity and latitude and demonstrated experience working on cross-cultural teams


Preferred Education, Experience & Competencies
Applicable experience with USAID branding and marking
• Work Authorization/security clearance
• Zambian work authorization
