Purpose Of The Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Actuarial Manager to join our team at Professional Insurance Corporation Zambia, the leading non-life insurance company in Zambia. As an Actuarial Manager, you will play a crucial role in driving our company’s success by managing actuarial activities and providing strategic guidance to the team.

Key Objectives:
Liaise with independent actuaries to ensure the adequacy of claims reserves and the appropriateness of the methodologies and models used.
Supervise annual and quarterly valuations of general insurance liabilities in accordance to generally accepted actuarial principles.
Manage actuarial audits on IFRS17 and Solvency Assessment.
Manage/support on value-adding projects covering IFRS17 implementation and other topics related to trends in the actuarial field.
Develop, coach and mentor our team in the analysis and evaluation of risk for our various products.
Continually learn and share your knowledge with the wider actuarial team.
Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of pricing tools to be used by underwriters in assessing individual risks.
Proactively engage with underwriters to price individual large accounts and effectively communicate performance insights.
Conduct regular reviews of actuarial data and models to ensure accuracy and adherence to regulatory requirements.
Responsible for the analysis for local financial and regulatory deliverables such as reserving, capital management, financial reporting and budgeting.
Collaborate with underwriting and product development teams to evaluate new products and pricing structures.
Monitor industry trends and changes in regulations to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
Work closely with senior management to provide insights and recommendations on business performance and risk management.
Present actuarial findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders and regulators.

Skills And Attributes
Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
Professional designation as an Actuary (Fellow/CAS/FCAS/FSAS) an added advantage.
Member of a recognized actuarial body.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in insurance actuarial analysis, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of actuarial principles, techniques, and methodologies in the insurance industry.
-Proficiency in actuarial software such as Excel, SAS, or R. VBA experience an added advantage.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Effective communication and leadership abilities, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams as well as independently.
Experience in financial reporting, Solvency Computations, IFRS is preferential.
Team player and proactive, self-starter.
Curious mindset and keenness to learn.
Critical thinker and solution-orientated approach.
