The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a federally owned international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwide operations. GIZ has worked in Rwanda for over 30 years. The primary objectives between the Government of Rwanda and the Federal Republic of Germany are poverty reduction and promotion of sustainable development. To achieve these objectives, GIZ Rwanda is active in the sectors of Decentralization and Good Governance, Economic Development and Employment Promotion and Energy.
GIZ is a partner of Hanga Ahazaza initiative funded by the Mastercard Foundation to implement a number of capacity development activities in the TVET (Technical and Vocational Education Training) aspects of the Hospitality & Tourism (H&T) sector. The activities include strengthening workplace learning at hospitality & tourism companies and introducing elements of dual cooperative training in the H&T sector in alignment with the three pillars of the project: youth skills and capacity development; industry and institutional capacity development, as well as to support the growth and development of industry SMEs (Small and Medium-sized Enterprises). The project started in February 2018 and runs until January 2021.
GIZ Rwanda is searching candidate for the position of Advisor on Workplace Learning & Career Guidance for its activities within the MasterCard Foundation / Hanga Ahazaza Initiative..
A. Responsibilities
• The Advisor is responsible for
• Supporting the implementation of a series of project outputs under the supervision of the Team Leader in the key area workplace learning and in close cooperation with the key expert on workplace learning.
The Advisor performs the following tasks:
B. Tasks
• Providing technical support & advice on workplace learning & career guidance in the Hospitality & Tourism (H&T) sector to the project technical team.
• Supporting private and public-sector partners in the development, implementation and coordination of innovative workplace learning approaches (modern apprenticeship, dual training).
• Providing support to the Tourism Chamber, sector associations, sector skills council in the mobilization of Hospitality & Tourism (H&T) businesses for active involvement in TVET (Technical and Vocational Education Training), career guidance and skills development.
• Supporting the development, review and introduction of in-company trainer / coordinator training and follow-up.
• Providing support to the IPRCs (Integrated Polytechnic Regional College) in improving career guidance services with a focus on the Hospitality & Tourism (H&T) sector.
• Advising Hospitality & Tourism (H&T) businesses in workplace learning, human resource development, and organization of workplace learning.
• Developing, implementing and monitoring capacity development measures for companies, Sector Skills Councils and Sector Associations on workplace learning jointly with the partners and in coordination with other intervention fields of the Hanga Ahazaza initiative.
• Networking and cooperation management with private and public stakeholders in TVET (Technical and Vocational Education Training).
Required qualifications, competences and experience
Qualifications
• Masters’ degree level in economics, private sector development, human resource development or related fields.
• Professional experience
• At least 5 years’ professional experience in TVET (Technical and Vocational Education Training) or human resource development in the private sector, preferably in the hospitality & tourism (H&T) sector.
• Other knowledge, additional competencies
• Proven command of English. Good knowledge of French is preferred.
• Strong communication and networking skills
