JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose
The Auto Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining these specific truck models. The role requires in-depth knowledge of heavy-duty vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems. The mechanic will ensure the fleet’s optimal performance, safety, and reliability while minimizing downtime through preventative maintenance and efficient repairs.
Base: 1x Lusaka, 1x Kalumbila

Key Responsibilities
1. Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on Scania, Volvo, and Sino trucks, including engine overhauls, brake systems, and electrical components.
2. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues to determine repair solutions.
3. Conduct inspections of vehicles to identify potential issues and recommend corrective actions.
4. Carry out preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure the longevity of the fleet.
5. Overhaul and repair major components such as transmissions, gearboxes, differentials, and drive trains.
6. Test vehicle systems, including emissions, cooling, fuel, and electrical systems, to ensure proper operation.
7. Use diagnostic tools and software specific to Scania, Volvo, and Sino trucks to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
8. Maintain accurate records of repairs, services, and maintenance activities.
9. Ensure compliance with manufacturer guidelines, safety standards, and company policies.
10. Work closely with the logistics and fleet teams to schedule maintenance and prioritize urgent repairs.
11. Keep up to date with new technology, tools, and procedures related to Scania, Volvo, and Sino truck maintenance.
12. Manage inventory of parts and tools necessary for repairs and maintenance.

Qualifications
1. Diploma or certification in automotive technology, mechanical engineering, or a related field will be an advantage.
2. 5-10 years of experience specializing in the maintenance and repair of Scania, Volvo, and Sino trucks.
3. Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
4. Proficiency in the use of specialized diagnostic equipment and tools.
5. Excellent knowledge of truck systems, including engines, transmissions, braking, and electrical systems.
6. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and repair instructions.
7. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
9. A valid driver’s license, preferably with a heavy-duty vehicle endorsement.
