JOB DETAILS:
Have you worked in a Butchery or a Retail Store? Ilondola Meat Market is urgently looking for Blockman / Butchery Assistant and invites applications from energetic and suitably qualified Zambian citizens living in Lusaka. Ilondola Meat Market is a well established retail company based in Kalingalinga, looking for a suitable candidate to join our team.

Duties and Responsibilities – Your duties will include but are not limited to –
• Accurately blocking all meat categories Cut carcasses – Cutting, grinding and preparing meats for sale. (Pork, Beef, Lamb, Goat and poultry)
• Preparing special cuts of meat – Cutting, curing, trimming, boning, tying, and grinding meats for roasts, pre cooked etc
• Ensure that display fridges are full and ready for the customers and displays and signage are accurate and attractive.
• Weighing, packaging, pricing, and displaying products.
• Keeping records, budgets, and inventory.
• Performing quality inspections on meats and other products.
• Adhering to food safety and sanitation controls.
• Greeting and speaking to customers, providing advice, answering questions, and accepting orders
• Coordinating deliveries or order pickups.
• Actively participate as a member of the team and support department managers and co employees.
• Ensures that cleaning and housekeeping standards on equipment and work areas are maintained according to laid down standards and norms.
• Ensure that there is sufficient stock, practice good stock rotation and reduce minimise wastage
• Operate the pricing scale and price meat products Performing any other task, not specified herein, which from time to time may be assigned by the manager.

Minimum Job requirements:
• Minimum of 3 years experience as a Blockman is essential with strong knowledge of meat preparation techniques and cuts. A Certificate or Diploma in Food technology will be an added advantage
• Must have a full grade 12 Certificate, certified by ECZ
• Must be criminally clear
• Valid drivers licence
• Interested candidates should have a sound knowledge of sausage making.
• Must be computer literate – in Word, Internet and Excel applications including POS
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
• Must be able to work retail hours
• It will be advantageous for applicants to live in the Kalingalinga area.

• Possess excellent specific market knowledge with experience in a sales environment will be an advantage
• Attention to detail and must have a systematic work approach
• Must have excellent customer communication skills, helpful and polite
• Good at time management
• Confident, friendly and engaging personality
• Able to work as part of a team
• Presentable and well-groomed male or female
• Must have a strong numerical acumen for Costing and Pricing strategies
• Ability to use hand tools, standing for long periods, lift heavy items, and work in cold environments
