A leading Agricultural company is inviting applications from a suitably qualified and experienced person to fill the following vacant position under its establishment:
Job Title: Business Development Manager (X1)
Location: Lusaka
Job Purpose:
To drive the organization’s growth agenda and its market share through new customer acquisitions and through cross selling and upselling initiatives of additional products and services to existing customers. The Business Development Manager will work to improve the organization’s market position, identify sales leads, pitch goods and services to new clients, enter into new market territories, maintain a good working relationship with new contacts and achieve financial growth.
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Key Responsibilities
• Prospect for potential clients and turn this into increased business
• Identify key decision makers, meet potential clients and optimize business opportunities by growing, maintaining, and leveraging networks.
• Advance potential funding opportunities to support business growth initiatives in the industry and ensuring compliance with investor financial and other reporting requirements.
• Present new products and services and enhance existing relationships.
• Implement client retention initiatives and maintain an excellent client relationship with existing and potential clients
• Develop and implement strategic sales plan in collaboration with management team
• Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales.
• Initiate and present proposals and presentation for new business opportunities
• Use knowledge of the market and competitors to identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.
• Work with marketing staff to ensure that prerequisites (like pre-qualification or getting on a vendor list) are fulfilled within a timely manner.
• Conduct business development training and mentoring to business developers and other internal staff.
• Ensure all projects are delivered within accepted guidelines whilst paying particular attention to financial sustainability
• Ensure project compliance to company and other global partner financial guidelines.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Requirements
• 5 years (or plus) of experience in sales/business development
• Proven track record of developing new businesses
• Strong in client connection and client services or Relationship Management
• Strong responsibility, self-motivated, able to work under high pressure
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
• A passion for sales and a drive to succeed
• Bachelor’s Degree in economics, finance/marketing/Business administration or equivalent
