Responsibilities
The successful incumbent will be responsible for providing a strategic direction to the Agricultural Solutions organization, in Southern Africa to ensure that budgets are achieved, with a particular focus on Zambia and Zimbabwe. Develop, manage, and monitor not limited to forecasts and stock management, net targets and DSO, etc. with regular feedback to the Country Manager. Duties will include the following:
• Manage the operational aspects of the Agricultural Solutions organization in Southern Africa, with a focus on Zambia and Zimbabwe
• Set measurable targets and KPIs for Account Managers and provide strategic direction for technical and marketing personnel
• Plan and implement business operational plans, including farmer days, product launches, and crop campaigns
• Ensure compliance with anti-trust and business SOPs
• Develop and implement distributor and agent contracts, target agreements, and budgets
• Monitor forecasts and products on the ground
• Collaborate with AP management on strategic priorities
• Lobby government representatives to ensure BASF interests are reflected in trade policies
• Assume Directorship responsibility for BASF Zambia Legal Entity
• Define a business plan and develop strategic business plans as a foundation for the operational plan to ensure that budgets are achieved
• Develop and maintain the forecast and budget
• Implement the Go To Market (GTM) strategy
• Ensure that push strategies from agents are coupled with pull strategies developed by marketing
• Lead and steer AP Business in the region, creating an entrepreneurial culture
• Coach and develop employee skills to ensure maximum job efficiency and satisfaction
• Apply collaborative leadership and management principles to keep the team motivated, skilled, driven, and focused on achieving set-out budgets
Qualifications
• Tertiary qualification in Business Management Degree or equivalent
• Minimum of 8 years of business management experience
• Have Leadership experience at a senior level
• Strong financial acumen and understanding of commercial strategy
• Sound knowledge of the commercial business in South and Southern Africa
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across all levels; with excellent interpersonal skills
• Strong knowledge of fungicides, herbicides, pesticides, plant health, and crop care
• Knowledge of MS Office at advanced level
• Ability to prepare and present concepts to match the target and uphold the brand image of BASF AP
