1. Background
Christian Blind Mission (CBM) has been collaborating with the Zambian Government and other key stakeholders in implementing inclusive eye health programs in Zambia and improving the quality of life of Persons with Disabilities for over 40 years. Under the inclusive eye health initiative, CBM complemented the government efforts in finalising the national eye health strategic plan 2022 – 2026.
Following the finalisation of the 2022-2026 national eye health strategy, CBM seeks to support the engagement of a consultant to support the national eye health coordinating unit to review, edit and layout the 2022-2026 national eye health strategy in readiness for printing.
2. The purpose of the consultancy
The purpose for the consultancy is to support the national eye health coordinating unit to review, edit and type set the 2022-2026 National Eye Health Strategy Plan.
3. Scope of work
In close co-ordination with the national eye health coordinator, the consultant will implement the following tasks:
a) Review and edit the draft 2022-2026 national eye health strategy
b) Design and layout the edited 2022-2026 the draft national eye health strategy
c) Produce the edited and laid out strategy for review and feedback
d) Type set the strategy, including layout, numbering and formatting
e) Produce final report incorporating feedback after review
4. Expected outputs and deliverables:
The following will be the expected deliverables and outputs of the engagement:
a) Soft copies of a well edited and ready to print strategy.
b) A well designed and laid out 2022- 2026 National Eye Health Strategy ready for printing and dissemination.
5. Time frame
The consultant undertakes the following tasks in line with the national eye health coordinating unit team timelines;
6. Institutional arrangement and responsibilities
The national eye health coordinating Unit will be responsible for the following:
Overall oversight of the consultant including review of the first draft.
Operational support required throughout the review and edit process.
Technical review of the draft version of the reviewed strategy.
The consultant will be responsible for the following:
Thorough review and editing of the draft 2022-2026 national eye health strategy.
Designing and layout of the edited 2022-2026 the draft national eye health strategy.
Producing final report incorporating feedback after review
7. Facilitator’s competencies, experience and skill requirements:
a) Company/Individual with demonstrable experience in reviewing of strategy documents.
b) Prior experience and expertise in editing and layout of strategy documents.
8. Application process and requirements
Qualified and interested parties are asked to submit the following:
Detailed proposal with a ZMW budget, clearly demonstrating a thorough understanding of these TORs and including but not limited to the following.
a) A detailed company/individual profile
b) Demonstrated previous experience in similar assignments and qualifications as outlined in this TOR.
The selected applicant will adhere to CBM’s values and commits to CBM’s code of conduct and safeguarding policy. CBM encourages persons with disabilities to apply.
