Nanga Farms Ltd. is a large irrigated Sugarcane Estate situated near Mazabuka in the Southern Province of Zambia. The Company is part of the Illovo Sugar Africa Group and its main activities are the cultivation of 2,860 hectares of Sugarcane and the rearing of 1,400 head of Cattle. The Company now invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of:-
Cattle Capitao

Job Purpose
Reporting to the Farm Manager, the purpose of the job is to manage all daily cattle production management activities such as feeding, watering, grazing and maintenance of fencing infrastructure on the property.

Main Responsibilities
• Supervising the feeding and watering of the cattle in all paddocks
• Ensuring that the area around the cattle feeding and watering points are well maintained
• Assisting in ensuring general maintenance of fences on the farm.
• Tagging and branding of cattle that are under his responsibility
• Supervision of the driving of cattle to and from dip tanks, carrying out all operations regarding cattle dipping and vaccinations.
• Ensuring that animal welfare policy is implemented strictly at all times.
• Submits routine daily and weekly irrigation reports to the farm manager
• Keeping high productivity of labour through optimal activity tasking according to safe work procedures
• Implements the Company Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Management Policy in the Section.

Qualifications and Experience
• Full Grade 12 Certificate.
• Certificate in General Agriculture or Animal health and production.
• Minimum two (2) years in the same field, preferably on an Agricultural operation.
• Computer proficiency in word and excel.
• Valid driver’s licence will be an added advantage
