Chef
Position – Chef (1)
Northern Rock Hotel has an exciting opportunity for a chef to join the team based in Mpika, Muchinga Province. We pride ourselves in giving all of our customer’s unbeatable value and a quality experience. Our prospective chef should be passionate about their area of expertise. As a chef you would be responsible for preparing meals and snacks for à la carte, conferences or catering events for our customers. The position is on a full time & permanent basis. .

  Responsibilities
• Prepare and present high quality dishes in a timely manner
• Ensure that all food is presented attractively and at the right temperature
• Ensure kitchen is well stocked during shift hours
• Keep food wastage to a minimum
• Ensure that recipes are followed to allow for a consistent and high standard of food
• Ensure correct operation of all kitchen equipment and utensils
• Maintain high standard of hygiene in the kitchen and surrounding areas
• Report issues to do with equipment, appliances, hygiene and environment
• Record accurate end of shift stock records
• Ensure to meet departmental targets and strive to achieve them as a team
• Full awareness of all menu items, their recipes, methods of production and presentation standards

  Qualifications and Experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Grade twelve (12) School Certificate/General Certificate of Education (GCE) Equivalent
• Relevant qualification from a recognized college or university
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the food industry
• A passion for food and the culinary arts. A passion to learn and a drive to succeed in the food industry
• Ability to work under pressure
• Be willing to relocate and live in Mpika
