Our client, a part of the broader Financial Sector Deepening (FSD) Network of programmes in Africa that seek to create a transformative impact on the reduction of poverty by supporting efforts to improve financial inclusion and by helping financial institutions and markets drive economic growth, requires a versatile, dynamic, self-motivated, highly credible and suitably qualified individual to fill the position of;
Chief Executive Officer
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the effective organisational governance translating into effective, sustainable and innovative programme leadership and delivery, fulfilment of fiduciary responsibilities and fundraising, successful engagement with financing partners and leadership of technical, operational and administrative management.
The incumbent will have the following key accountabilities;
• Overall strategic leadership, operational responsibility, coordination and management of the programme in Zambia;
• Expansion and execution of the organisation's mission as a Making Markets Work for the poor facilitator;
• Leading the team across all thematic areas: Inclusive Enterprise Finance, Rural Finance, Inclusive Insurance, Policy and Digital Financial Services and Analytics:
• Recognise and use as a guideline, the longer-term objectives of inclusive finance in an inclusive and healthy economy, access to social services and sustainable future for all Zambians;
• Maintain and support a strong Board of Directors and its Committees and help build Board involvement with strategic direction for ongoing and future programming:
• Stakeholder engagement and Resource mobilization;
• Financial management-monitor budget oversight, tracking and management to ensure integrity, value for money and timely complete reporting as well as unqualified external audits;
• Ensure ongoing programmatic excellence, rigorous programme monitoring and results management as well as evaluation and consistent quality of finance, administration, communications and systems;
• Keep focus on research justification for projects, trends, innovation options, needs for the target end clients and sustainability of options;
• Develop and sustain a high-performance culture that supports the organisation's vision, instilling a culture of learning, innovation, collaboration and team strengthening at all levels of the organisation and substantively increase financial inclusion and financial health throughout the population;
• Regularly monitor and evaluate the effective implementation of projects;
• Maintain and further develop the institution's professional and organisational credibility in the market and effectively manage its reputational risk;
• Ensure that the organisation's health, safety and security arrangements are in line with financing partner and government requirements.
Required Qualifications, Core Competencies and Attributes
• Master's Degree in Economics, Business Administration, International Development, Finance, Public Administration or related discipline, from a reputable institution and
• Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Business Administration, International Development, Finance, Public Administration or related discipline, from a reputable institution and
• Grade 12 Certificate
• At least fifteen (15) years' management experience ten (10) of which should be at a senior management level in finance or closely related areas in developmental financing.
• Practical and proven experience in effective organisational management including Governance and Board Relations, Financial Management, Human Resource Management, Stakeholder Management, Communications and Public Relations, Risk Management, Change Management, Project Management and Diversity and Inclusion
• Demonstrable strategic and results oriented leadership in building and sustaining a high performance organisation
• In depth understanding of the Financial Services industry and its regulatory environment
• Excellent understanding, capability and delivery of resource mobilisation strategies
• Experience of working with rural communities and under served populations will be advantageous.
