JOB DETAILS:
Position Overview:
• The Chief Security Officer (CSO) will play a critical role in ensuring overall security of the company. He/she will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing comprehensive security programs and strategies to mitigate risks and safeguard the company’s infrastructure, data and reputation. This senior leadership position requires a combination of strategic thinking, technical expertise and strong leadership abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Security Strategy and Planning
• Develop and communicate a clear security vision, mission and strategic plan aligned with the organization’s goals and objectives.
• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities specific to the Lunsemfwa Hydro Power Company Limited.
• Formulate and implement effective security policies, standards and procedures to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
2. Physical Security and Asset Protection:
• Oversee the design, implementation and maintenance of physical security measures to protect critical infrastructure at Head Office, Mulungushi & Lunsemfwa Power Stations and surrounding community for the workers as well as Lunsemfwa Power station and its surrounding community.
• Investigate criminal, corruption and fraud and collaborate with Law enforcement agencies to ensure successful prosecution where prevention fails.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective access control, surveillance, intrusion detection and emergency response systems.
• Develop and execute security protocols for the protection of high-value assets associated with power plants.
• Coordinate transmission Line Patrols
• Ensure activities of trespass, land encroachments and other are delt with in collaboration with the relevant law enforcement agencies.
3. Cybersecurity and Data Protection:
• Establish and maintain a robust cybersecurity framework to safeguard the company’s digital infrastructure, systems and sensitive data.
• Monitor and respond to emerging cyber threats and vulnerabilities, coordinating with IT teams to implement effective security controls, incident response plans, and recovery procedures.
• Conduct regular security audits and penetration testing to identify and address potential weaknesses in the company’s network and information systems.
4. Emergency Preparedness and Response:
• Develop and implement comprehensive emergency preparedness plans to effectively respond to natural disasters, Cyber-attacks, power outages relating to Vandalism, or other incidents that may impact the electrical utility operations.
• Collaborate with local authorities, regulatory agencies, and emergency response organizations to ensure seamless coordination and communication during crisis situations.
• Conduct drills, exercises, and training programs to enhance the company’s emergency response capabilities and ensure employee safety.
5. Regulatory Compliance and Reporting:
• Stay updated with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards related to security, privacy and resilience in the electrical utility sector.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain accurate documentation, records and reporting related to security incidents, audits, and risk assessments.
• Represent the company in interactions with regulatory bodies, industry associations and other stakeholders regarding security-related matters.
6. Leadership and Team Management:
• Provide strong leadership and guidance to the security team, promoting a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Recruit, train, and develop security personnel, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to fulfill their responsibilities effectively.
• Foster effective collaboration and communication with internal stakeholders, including executive leadership, operations, IT, legal and HR departments.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Grade 12 Certificate
• Degree in relevant field
• Candidates without a degree but with experience and track record in criminal investigations, Law enforcement and Prosecutions etc will also be considered.
• 6 or more years in security management in and industrial complex.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing security strategies, policies, and procedures.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and forward-thinking mindset.
