JOB DETAILS:
The Government of the Republic of Zambia (GRZ) through the Ministry of Finance under National Development Planning with funding from the World Bank awarded a contract to Conservation Farming Unit (CFU) in partnership with Total LandCare for consultancy services to implement the “Diversifying Livelihoods Component” of the Transforming Landscapes for Resilience and Development (TRALARD) project covering 6 districts (Chama, Isoka, Kanchibiya, Lavushimanda, Mafinga, and Mpika) in Muchinga Province. The consortium of Conservation Farming Unit (CFU) and Total LandCare Zambia (TLC) will be led by the Conservation Farming Unit. The Service Provider (SP) will implement the project for a period of 2 years, from April 2021 to March 2023.

We seek to recruit: Community Based Natural Resources Management Officer
Department: Field Operations / Services
Location: Chinsali
Reports to: Team Leader
Purpose of the Job:
The purpose of the job is to coordinate Project activities to ensure efficient utilization of Project staff and resources to achieve the Project goals in cost-effective manner in the region.

Major Responsibilities:
• Ensure liaison between the CFU/TLC and other stakeholders including the Government line ministries & departments, private sector, NGOs and Traditional / Community leaders.
• Ensure that all relevant Farmer trainings are conducted effectively in the region.
• Ensure that Field days / Demos / Trials are conducted effectively in the district.
• Ensure that the Project Team is well managed and supported.
• Provide direction and day-to-day supervision of Community Based Mobilisation Officers
• Conduct regular (monthly) planning and review meetings
• Develop a methodology for knowledge and skills transfer
• Disseminate information related to weather, disasters, Climate Smart Agriculture practices
• Ensure resources such as motor bikes, fuel, per diem are made available to staff so that they can accomplish their tasks.
• Facilitate identification of potential areas for CFMAs and NFRAs.
• Facilitate internal trainings for staff / Exchange visits.
• Facilitate participatory NRM and Climate risk planning.
• Provide direction and day-to-day supervision of Community Based Mobilisation Officers.
• Provide technical back-up to staff.
• Provide timely feedback on staff performance.
• Sensitise communities on the importance of CFMAs and NFRAs.
• Support groups/individuals living in the border areas of Cfm and NFR areas to engage in sub-projects and enterprises.
• Training of Community Based Mobilisation Officers on the objectives and goals of the Project
• Prepare budgets / other requisites for trainings.
• Prepare Community Based Mobilisation Officers to conduct effective Farmer trainings.
• Prepare training report
• Monitor and Backstop subject field trainings
• Prepare/submit subject and scheduled reports

Education
• The minimum level of education required to competently make the decision above is bachelor’s degree (Agriculture / Agri – Business / Economics).
• Experience
• The post education experience needed for a person to be appointed to this job is at least 3 years.
