About The Role:
The Community Liaison Officer - Agriculture Development will be responsible for engaging with community members to foster relationships, facilitate communication, and support agricultural development initiatives. The officer will work closely with farmers, local leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure that projects meet community needs and contribute to sustainable agricultural practices, to improve productivity and promote food security.
Reporting to the Senior Community Liaison Officer, responsibilities of this position include:
• Maintaining positive relationships with communities and ensure that the community needs are aligned with our CSR community investment plan
• Partnerships Development- Building partnership with local organizations,government agencies and other key stakeholders.The liaison officer may also be required to be responsible for identifying potential partners in the agricultural sector
• Strong engagements with various stakeholders in the agriculture sector and communities in the direct area of interest (DAI) will act as point of contact between the company and the stakeholders to ensure effective collaborations and communication
• Planning, implementation and monitoring of agricultural development supported by the CSR initiatives
• Identify training needs and organize capacity-building activities for community members to enhance agricultural practices and productivity.
• Provide technical assistance and support to farmers on best agricultural practices, sustainable farming methods, and resource management.
• Facilitate tested public consultations and participation approaches to generate agro development initiatives and awareness raising activities involving people of all ages and backgrounds
• Ensure local farmers access cost effective and client oriented agro-financial services to agri business, investment proposals working together with the senior community liaison officer
• Research farming systems, identify and promote sustainable models of agricultural production for small scale and emergent farmers in our DAI
• Prepare and submit regular reports on community engagement activities, project progress, and outcomes to the Project Manager
• Participate in agriculture and environmental education initiatives and awareness raising activities
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
• Bachelor's in Agricultural Science, or related field,
• Minimum experience (4 years) in agriculture development and research related to community development support.
• Proven experience in community engagement, liaison, or similar roles, preferably in an agricultural development context.
• Strong understanding of agricultural practices, challenges, and opportunities in the local context.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel within the community and other project sites as required.
• Field Experience in Design and implementation of Sustainable Agriculture Programs
In addition to the above, you will have:
• Extensive knowledge about sustainable agriculture and community programs
• Proven ability to make a difference and lasting impact
• Demonstrated ability to improve team safety
• Good understanding of of the local customs and practices
