VVacancy: National Short Term IT expert
ADT Project Consulting GmbH (www.adtproject.de) is an innovative and reliable German consulting firm that focuses on planning and implementing international projects in the areas of livestock, agriculture and rural development. Since 1995 we have been working for governments, development agencies, public institutions as well as for enterprises and organizations of the agriculture and food industry in more than 50 countries. Having a profound background in animal husbandry and dairy production, we are currently implementing the project “Technical cooperation with Zambia, Green Innovation Centres – Dairy Value Chain” in Zambia in a consortium with SNV from the Netherlands.
The global project “Green Innovation Centres for the Agriculture and Food sector” is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. The Green Innovation Centre in Zambia (GIC) is one out of 14 country packages at global level. With the agreement of the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) and Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock (MoFL) in Zambia the project focuses on three value chains in two regions: Soya and groundnuts in Eastern Province and dairy in Southern Province. The overall objective of the GIC’s activities along the dairy value chain in Zambia is to improve the income of smallholder dairy farmers in the Southern Province, increase the employment rate and to improve the local availability of dairy products. .

Within the consortium with SNV ADT Project Consulting GmbH is responsible for developing ICT solutions for actors and stakeholders in the dairy value chain.
For the above mentioned project we are searching for an IT expert working on the following subjects:
• Support to all IT related project activities in co-operation with the international IT expert
• Review and expand the existing ICT-concept alongside the dairy value chain, carry-out the analysis of user requirements, review technical programming concepts and relevant ICT documents
• Supervision of programming and/or customization of relevant software or applications for different actors and stakeholders in the dairy value chain
• Support the testing, roll-out and provide training to administrators and end-users
Commencement of assignment: September / October 2019. The current project phase is ending in December 2019. A project extension is currently under preparation.
Duration of the assignment: Short-term interventions of up to 10 working days / month upon demand..

The essential qualifications for the IT expert are:
• University degree in ICT
• At least 5 years of work experience in the area of expertise
• Experience with the development of web applications using Java, JavaScript
• Experience with relational database systems
• Experience in developing mobile solutions using JavaScript and HTML5
• Experience with communication and data exchange between different devices and software applications
• Experience with the IT systems related to agriculture is an asset
• Regional experience: Zambia
• Language skills: Fluent command (written and spoken) of English
