About This Role
The Nutrition Project Coordinator will support the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation and reporting of nutrition and emergency response interventions implemented by ChildFund and its Local Partners. The project aims at improving the nutritional and food security status of vulnerable populations. The role requires working closely with communities, partners, health facilities and other stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of nutrition interventions, particularly in emergency settings or areas with high food insecurity and malnutrition rates.

Primary Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
1. Program Implementation:
• Assist in the planning and delivery of nutrition and emergency response interventions, including the distribution of food supplements, therapeutic feeding, and micronutrient supplementation as well as other food security interventions.
• Support the implementation of nutrition education and promotion activities as well as climate smart activities in the target communities.
• Ensure that nutrition and food security interventions are culturally appropriate and tailored to the specific needs of the population.
• Support local partners in the planning and implementation of relevant emergency response interventions
2. Community Engagement:
• Mobilize and engage communities in nutrition and feed security activities, ensuring their active participation and ownership.
• Conduct regular community meetings to raise awareness about nutrition and health practices.
• Work with local leaders, community and district groups, health workers, and other community stakeholders to promote nutrition-related and food security behaviors.
3. Monitoring and Reporting:
• Monitor, evaluate and report on the progress of nutrition and food security programs and ensure that activities are implemented according to the work plan and project goals.
• Collect and analyze data on the nutritional, food security and emergency response status of the target population.
• Prepare and submit timely reports on program activities, outcomes, and challenges to the Technical Manager for Health at childFund.
4. Capacity Building:
•
• Train and mentor community health workers, volunteers, and other stakeholders on nutrition best practices and interventions.
• Support the capacity-building efforts of local partners and government counterparts.
5. Coordination and Collaboration:
•
• Collaborate with government agencies, Local Partners, NGOs, and other partners to ensure coordinated and effective nutrition responses.
• Participate in relevant coordination meetings, such as nutrition clusters, to align activities with national and regional strategies.
• Ensure that nutrition interventions are integrated with other health, WASH, and food security programs.
6. Emergency Response:
•
• Participate in rapid nutrition assessments during emergencies to identify immediate needs.
• Support the design and implementation of emergency nutrition interventions, including therapeutic feeding programs.
7. Compliance and Standards:
•
• Ensure that all nutrition and emergency response interventions adhere to national and international standards and guidelines, including those set by the Zambia Government, WHO and UNICEF.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures, particularly regarding child protection and gender equality.

Required Experience and Education
• Minimum of a Diploma or degree in Nursing, Nutrition, Public Health or related social sciences.
• Experience in project management and emergency response will be an added advantage
• 3 -5 years’ experience in the development sector including community work. Project management or public health interventions.
• Must be familiar with Donor’s regulation, policies and procedure
• Good writing and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and under pressure
• Computer proficiency in general office software applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook)
