JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose:
Responsible for planning organising, coordinating and directing non-academic and social welfare services for students of the Zambia University College of Technology and advising management on formulation of student /personnel policy guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Controls and coordinates all activities and operations of the Unit
2. Initiates formulation and review of policies and guidelines governing the welfare of students;
3. Ensures implementation of policies and guidelines governing the welfare of students;
4. Advises Management on matters pertaining to student governance, performance andextracurricular activities
5. Superintends over the allocation of hostel accommodation;
6. Directs and monitors individual or group counselling or advisory services;
7. Presides over sports, socio-cultural, recreation and extra-curricular activities for students8. Ensures that sport facilities are developed and maintained;
9. Coordinates planning and implementation of the Unit budget, and ensures prudent utilisation of financial and physical resources
10. Ensures that hostels are maintained, including sanitary facilities;
11. Enforces discipline in accordance with the Student Disciplinary Code of Conduct,
12. Supervises subordinate staff and ensures that performance appraisal is conducted for all staff in the Unit, and
13. Directs the preparation of quarterly and annual operational performance reports.
Minimum Qualifications, knowledge and experience required for this role
1. Grade 12 School Certificate or its equivalent, with at least 5 ‘O’ levels at Credit or better
2. Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences/Counselling/Education or any other relevant field from a reputable University;
3. Master’s degree in Social Sciences/Counselling/Education or any other relevant field from a reputable University:
4. Minimum of Five (5) years relevant work experience in an education institution, of which Three (3) years must be at senior management level;
5. Experience in conflict resolution mechanisms
6. Must be a member of a professional organization.
Special aptitudes, disposition and personal qualities of ideal candidate for Director Finance:
1. Excellent interpersonal skills
2. Strong oral and written communication skills
3. Ability to work under minimum supervision;
4. Ability to handle conflicts
5. Pragmatic, efficient, and highly organised personality; and
6. Must be computer literate.
