WAN-IFRA Women in News (WIN) aims to increase women’s leadership and voices in the news. It does so by equipping women journalists and editors with the skills, strategies, and support networks to take on greater leadership positions within their media. In parallel, WIN partners with media organisations to identify industry-led solutions to create environments that embrace equality, and navigate the transition to digital to build toward greater financial and operational stability. :

Women in News has been running capacity building programmes and in-house training and coaching for 10 years in Sub-Saharan Africa, and 5 years in the Arab region via support from the Swedish International Cooperation Development Agency. Most recently we launched in Myanmar and Vietnam as part of WAN-IFRA’s strengthening independent programme, which is supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We will expand activities further to Indonesia and The Philippines in Q1 2021. Each region is led by a regional director and their supporting extended team. A director of digital and e-learning leads WIN digital activities and products. A number of key experts, reporting into the leadership committee which also includes the executive director, manage communications, MREL and research/monitoring activities.
WAN-IFRA Women in News is seeking a director, digital to lead the development of WIN’s digital products and suite of e-learning offerings. They will also be the visual brand guardian for Women in News, which includes all online and offline properties and collateral.
They will have a key position in the senior leadership team, working closely with the executive director and other members of the leadership team to develop digital products and tools to implement the WIN programme in 15 markets as well as globally, building our growing reputation as a leader in the gender equality and media freedom space. .

Specific deliverables of this role in 2021 include:
• Roll out SH microsite and oversee translation, transitioning focus then to work with regional leads on implementation into Advisory and Accelerator programmes, and comms key experts on promotion within community and externally
• Visualisation of Sexual Harassment Research findings onto digital platform transitioning to work with regional leads on implementation into programmes and comms key experts on promotion within community and externally; Support MREL lead in production and presentation of final product and research findings
• Bring Gender Balance Tracker to market with priority of introducing and integrating with WIN Advisory partners in Africa and coordinating with comms key experts on promotion within community and externally
• Oversight of WIN website and microsites (2 currently focusing on sexual harassment and gender balance)
• Develop Sexual Harassment e-learning module for managers and for newsrooms (2 audiences) working with regional leads to adapt and integrate into Advisory and Accelerator modules
• Work with Arabic experts to adapt Digital ABC to Arabic market and SEA markets and collaborate with team leads on integration into Advisory trainings and Accelerator as required
• Revitalize Gender Balance e-learning module and collaborate with team on integration into advisory and accelerator trainings, with regional adaptation as required (translation)
• Bring Digital ABC e-learning modules B and C to live state and work with e-learning manager and key experts to streamline processes and UX as much as possible, supporting integration into Advisory
• Serve as gatekeeper WIN’s look and feel online and offline managing overall brand materials and collateral
• Support Gender Balance Lead /Researcher in production and presentation of reports whether quarterly for partners, annually as part of research findings or funding reports.

Requirements
• Energy, initiative, intellect, flexibility and a team player. Professional demeanor, and ability to work collaboratively and respectfully as a key member of a regionally and culturally diverse team;
• 5-10 years of relevant work experience in the corporate communications, or digital marketing field with demonstrated supervisory skills and record of success in building, project managing and promoting digital products or properties;
• Direct experience working with remote teams within the social impact/not-for-profit sector in at minimum 5-7 of the WIN priority markets;
• ‘Client-facing’ skills aimed at determining the client’s need, perceived roadblocks, business unit culture, and work environment issues;
• Flexible and adaptable to changing programme needs and priorities
• Excellent project management skills, superior written and oral communications skills, and extensive writing and editing experience and skills with a variety of print and online communications media;
• Strong Process discipline, while maintaining high levels of comfort with ambiguity and changing priorities
• Ability to produce high quality, persuasive written materials suitable for general public understanding, requiring minimal revision;
• Proven ability to effectively manage projects with minimal budgets, including meeting tight deadline;
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) essential. Experience implementing learning platforms required.
