The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation is a global leader in the fight against pediatric HIV and AIDS, working in 15 countries and at over 5,500 sites around the world to prevent the transmission of HIV to children, and to help those already infected. Today, because of the highly successful work of the Foundation and its partners, pediatric AIDS has been virtually eliminated in the United States. With a growing global staff of over 1,000 nine of 10 who work in the field the Foundation’s global mission is to implement HIV prevention, care, and treatment programs; further advance innovative research; and to execute strategic and targeted global advocacy activities to bring dramatic change to the lives of millions of women, children, and families worldwide.
Overview:
Thru a grant from UNITAID, EGPAF will introduce and scale-up innovative point-of-care (POC) early infant diagnosis (EID) in nine African countries. This four-year project will provide 650 POC EID platforms, which will enable the testing of up to 270,000 HIV-exposed infants. The project will result in increased pediatric HIV diagnosis and earlier initiation of infants on ART, increased pediatric ARV coverage, and improved survival of HIV-positive infants.
Driver.
Location: Kigali, Rwanda
The Driver will support all aspect of the Rwanda Program and be responsible for the transportation of EGPAF personnel and materials to various work locations. The Driver will work under the direction of the Senior Administrative & Finance Manager (AFM).


Responsibilities:

  • Drive EGPAF personnel in the course of official activities, in and around Kigali and also in other parts of the country. Maintain safe driving practices and respect all rules of the road in accordance with Rwanda law and the EGPAF vehicle Policy.
  • Take all necessary steps to ensure the security of the vehicle, both when driving and when the vehicle is parked. This includes use of seat belts by all passengers, locking of all car doors and window, use of the alarm when out of the vehicle, and attending to the vehicle when parked for a long period
  • At the end of each day, the driver will be responsible to park the vehicle overnight in a secure in Kigali Office Parking, or other place to be agreed with the AFM. When traveling outside of Kigali, the Driver must locate an enclosed, guarded, area in which to park the vehicle overnight
  • Regularly clean the inside and outside of the vehicle, or arrange for this service in consultation with the AFM.
  • Inspect the Vehicle each morning to assure its ability to operate safely and effectively. Perform routine maintenance tasks and notify the AFM when the car needs to be taken to the Mechanic. Obtain authorization from the AFM prior to arranging any mechanic service,
  • Complete the Vehicle Trip Log for all trips and submit it weekly to the AFM.
  • Assist with the purchase, transportation, and delivery of materials necessary for the Rwanda program activities.


Qualifications:

  • At least having a S6 Diploma level.
  • Good level of communication in French or English plus Kinyarwanda
  • Valid driving license category B and D.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a driver.
  • Experience to drive to several regions of the country
  • Experience working with an International NGO.
