JOB DETAILS:
IPFG is a Local Organisation created in 1998 with the aim of improving the socio-economic conditions for women by supporting agricultural, small business and livestock activities in Nyamagabe and Nyaruguru Districts. From this period up to now, the Organization is trying to assist small farmers especially women in combating poverty notably with farming and breeding.
All of its members are anxious about the welfare and the complete development of the family based on the gender equality and the participation of the man and the woman in all programs which aim to reinforce fairness and democracy.
Background and scope of the Driver role
The organisation (IPFG ) has secured funding for the implementation of a project title ‘’Enhancing the capacity and participation of small-scale farmers and civil society organisations in decision making and governance processes related to sustainable agriculture and food security in Rwanda’’, focusing on the formulation, implementation and monitoring/evaluation of policies, programmes and budgets related to the agriculture sector. The project will be implemented over three years from 1st August 2018 in 3 districts (Nyamagabe, Nyaruguru, and Nyagatare). IPFG will implement the project in Nyamagabe District.
The Driver will report to Accountant and interact closely with the rest of the organisation, including the Programme department.


OVERALL JOB FUNCTION:
The Driver will provide reliable and safe driving services to IPFG officials and visitors, ensuring highest standards of discretion and integrity, sense of responsibility, excellent knowledge protocol and security issues. S/he will also be responsible of maintaining IPFG vehicles clean and in sound condition.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Drives for IPFG officials and staff by using vehicle and Motorbike in needed cases, ensuring the provision of reliable and safe driving services by:

  • Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
  • Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check tires, brakes and water levels, car washing etc. so that the vehicle is clean and in good running condition at all times;
  • Ensures cleanliness of assigned vehicle at all times when in use or otherwise and that the vehicle is in good condition before use;
  • Ensures proper use of vehicle maintenance plans and assistance in vehicle history report;
  • Ensures availability of all the required document/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle registration, vehicle road tax, vehicle logs, office directory, first aid kit and necessary spare parts in the assigned vehicle;
  • Keep track of insurance and other tax formalities;
  • Ensures that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident;
  • help with transporting goods
  • Assists in mailing and distribution of mails and publications and payment of bills to suppliers;


OTHER DUTIES/ADDITIONAL TASKS

  • Assist office staff in the filing, photocopying and other general office duties when if there is no travel pending, carries out other office work on request.
  •  Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Holds a valid driver’s license A and B.
  • At least a minimum of secondary school education A2
  • at least 1-3 years’ professional experience as a driver with references
  • no major accidents in the past 3 years

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND OTHER SKILLS:

  • Good interpersonal skills, Fluent in English
  • Understanding of IT applications including Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel.
  • Effective writing, verbal and listening communication skills
  • Very effective organization and time management skills
  • Be flexible, honest and trustworthy and with sound work ethics.
  • Ability to maintain a high-level confidentiality on organization issues.
  • Have a good knowledge of rural roads trafficking or traveling

Travel
You will be based in Nyamagabe District and should have the ability and willingness to travel in the field frequently, and outside the project area as required, sometimes within a short notice.
Salary and benefits
Salary and benefits will depend on qualifications and experience. The salary will be based on the Organisational salary scale.
