JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose
• To undertake economic analysis in order to determine the appropriate tariffs of electricity and evaluate the economic performance of electricity sub-sector.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Undertake economic analysis of electricity tariff applications in order to determine appropriate efficient level and structure of electricity tariffs.
• Conduct economic reviews of Power Purchase Agreements from applicants in the electricity sub-sector in order to safe-guard consumer interests, ensure realistic and cost reflective tariffs as well as guard against anti-competitive behavior in the Industry
• Undertake economic review of proposed investments in the electricity Sub-sector in order to determine their viability for security of supply and impact of investment on the sector and economy
• Conduct regular reviews of performance by licensed undertakings using Key Performance Indicator frameworks in order to measure licensed undertakings performance against set targets
• Undertake the annual financial performance of licensed enterprises to assess whether they are a going-concern in order to guarantee security of supply
• Review the license application in order to determine the appropriate level of license fees • Research and analyses consumer complaints regarding pricing and other service charges in the electricity sector and advise the superiors accordingly
• Undertake annual economic review of developments in the Global and Regional economies and assess how these impact on the Electricity Industry and advise superiors accordingly
• Initiates annual departmental budgets and work-plans for review by superiors
• Perform other duties as assigned by superior from time to time

Minimum Qualifications and Experience
• Full Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent with university entrance passes
• Degree in Economics, or Finance or equivalent
• Five (5) years post qualification relevant experience
