Summary:
The U.S. Mission in Kigali is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for position of Electrical Technician.
The work schedule for this position is Full time (40 hours per week).

Duties
The incumbent reports directly to the Building Engineer Supervisor in the Facility Management office. The position holder is employed as an Electrical Technician to accomplish skilled maintenance and repair work at the journeyman electrician level, to International Building Code standards, throughout all facilities on the New Embassy Compound (NEC) to include office buildings, grounds, out buildings, ancillary structures, and residential owned/leased properties.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three (3) years’ experience journey-level experience in the repair and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems, power generation and electrical distribution systems, grounding, and control circuitry is required. This should include a minimum of two (2) years work experience on similar sized equipment configurations and systems with an increased level of complex work requirements.
Education Requirements:
• Completion of secondary school is required. Completion of vocational training program from an accredited institute recognized as producing journeyman level technicians with specialization in the Electrical field is required.
• Evaluations:
• LANGUAGE: English and Kinyarwanda level III (Good working knowledge) Written/Speaking/Reading is required. (This may be tested)
• Must have a valid local driver's license.
• A hands-on skills test will be conducted for candidates invited for interview.
Qualifications:
All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications and complete a mandatory probationary period for LE Staff.

ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA:
• The Mission may consider any of the following when determining successful candidacy: nepotism, conflicts of interest, budget, and residency status.
• Current employees of the Mission who have not successfully completed their initial probationary periods are not eligible to apply. Current employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory or MBC score of 100 points or less, on their most recent Employee Performance Report (EPR) are not eligible to apply.
• Current employees of the Mission hired on a Family Member Appointment (FMA) or a Personal Service Agreement (PSA) are not eligible to apply within the first 90 calendar days of their employment. This does not apply for employees on a PSA (Temp), or those are hired on a When Actually Employed (WAE) or intermittent work schedule.
• Candidates who are EFMs, USEFMs, AEFMs, or MOHs must have at least one year remaining on their sponsor’s tour of duty to be considered eligible to apply for this position.
