JOB DETAILS:
Electrician x 1
Programme Financing Partner: UNHCR
Term: Fixed Contract (January to December 2021)
Reports to: Warehouse Manager/Supervisor/Storekeeper
Location: Meheba/Solwezi x 1
6.1 Job Purpose
The job holder will be responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing electrical power, communications, lighting and control systems, including solar power sets and power generator sets, in accordance with the UNHCR requirements. .

Key Responsibilities
• Executing plans of electrical wiring for well-functioning lighting, intercom and other electrical systems, including solar and power generators
• Installing electrical apparatus, fixtures and equipment for alarm and other systems
• Installing safety and distribution components
• Calibrating equipment to provided specifications
• Reading blueprints or technical diagrams
• Completing required documentation of repairs and service information
• Inspecting, testing, and diagnosing issues with electrical systems and components
• Performing preventative maintenance on electrical systems and components
• Sizing the load of each phase to balance and advise appropriately on the required standards
• Carrying out trouble shooting on the failed or faulty generator set
• Programming and re-programming the generator set’s control panel
• Understanding the mechanical performance part of the Generator set.

Minimum Requirements
• Grade 12 School Certificate or equivalent qualification
• Craft Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or any other related field, preferably from a Vocational or Trade school
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role
• Experience in servicing and repairing power generator sets preferred
Skills and Attributes Needed
• Comfortable reading and understanding electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams
• Working knowledge of electrical theory, and the associated principles, materials, and equipment
• Demonstrated ability to operate hand and power tools associated with electrical work
• Ability to analyze and resolve both generation and supply of power from diesel or petrol run power generator sets
• Strong attention to detail with an aptitude for problem-solving
• Excellent communication and customer service skills


Job Education Requirements: Craft Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering


Job Experience Requirements: A minimum of 2 years’
