JOB DETAILS:
Job Title: Extensionist Mpongwe
Reports to: Project Manager
JOB CONTEXT
WeForest Zambia is a local NGO that is continuously aiming for improved performance of its main aim: Lasting Forest Landscape Restoration in Zambia. The extensionist will work in a dynamic team on our objective towards increasing forest cover in smallholder farmers’ Miombo woodlots as a scalable solution for climate mitigation and adaptation, livelihood improvement and gender equitable development. The extensionist will work under the direct supervision of the Copperbelt Project Manager and will mainly be active in the field in Mpongwe. .

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Implement Farm Forestry Projects at district level
• Conduct socio-economic surveys to assess baseline and follow-up
• Collect field data and assist in the mapping processes
• Lead trainings among farmers at the district level
• Assist with the selection of pilot and lead farmers
• Assist with the functioning of the local farmer associations
• Lead activities in the field and in the nursery, overviewing and leading forestry activities (such as beekeeping, tree planting and forest inventories)
• Communicate directly with Project Manager amongst other

CANDIDATE PROFILE
• Education: A minimum of B.Sc. in Forestry or equivalent
• Language: Fluent in English (both speaking and writing) and Bemba
• Experience: Minimum 3 years’ relevant work experience in the forestry sector
• Driving license: A valid Motorcycle driving license with clean driving record & proven ability to ride on challenging terrain
• Familiarity with GPS devices
• Skills: Excellent coordination, training and communication skills
• Strong and persistent with fieldwork
• Practical experience with beekeeping is a plus
