We are looking for a Fiber Telecom Field Technician/Engineer based in multiple locations in Africa for onsite/field work:
Zambia – Nigeria – Togo – Senegal – Seychelles – Ivory Coast – Comoros – Gran Canaria -Mauritania – Tanzania – Kenya – Djibouti – Namibia – Benin

A hard-working and experienced telecommunications technician to perform all duties pertaining to the installation, commissioning, and general upkeep of customers’ telecommunications systems.
The telecommunications technician’s/engineer responsibilities include maintaining an accurate record of all work orders completed per day, answering customers questions, engineering, and planning for the project deployment by reviewing customers’ orders ensuring that all necessary resources, supplies, and tools are on hand. You should also be able to always maintain a safe working environment.

As telecommunications technician, you should be detail-oriented and knowledgeable about telecommunications systems. Ultimately, a top-performing telecommunications technician should be able to interpret technical manuals and schematic designs,

Preferred Key Skills and Experience
Experience in Ciena and Infinera, Brady Printer, Optical Power Meter, Optical Spectrum Analyzer, Fiber Scope, Visual Fault Locator, LAN Tester, PC and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities
• Performing site survey to evaluate customers’ needs that includes detailed review of the ar-ea to capture all existing utilities, all adjacent structures, detailed measurements of power cables and fiber path to define the “Installation Required Materials” for the installation of telecommunications systems.
• Installs, moves, repairs, and modifies telecommunications and related equipment according to job order specifications, standards, and procedures.
• Running standalone and network tests on telecommunications systems installed to ensure that all components are functioning at optimal levels to meet customers’ SLA (Service Level Agreement).
• Work with Project Engineer remotely in diagnostic testing on problematic telecommunications systems to identify and resolve various technical faults.
• Checking all mechanical iron works, wiring and fibering work done are within the “Best Installation Practices Standards” set forth by the vendor.
• Generate/update “As Built Documents” of the installation infrastructure done using Microsoft Office Suite.
• Investigating and resolving customers’ complaints in a timely manner.
• Maintains inventory and stock, recommends purchase of both technical and nontechnical supplies, and takes responsibility for tools and test equipment.

Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunication, computer science, information technology, or similar.
• 2-3 years of experience as a Telecom technician, Installer or similar.
• In-depth knowledge of telecommunications environments, servers, and network equipment.
• Wide experience in installing, monitoring, and maintaining various telecommunications equipment.
• Exceptional ability to work as part of a team with minimal supervision.
• Ability to keep abreast with fast advancements in telecommunication infrastructure and technologies.
• Ability to communicated with multi-cultural environment.
• Willingness to work extended hours to meet deadlines.
• Work requires continuous moderate with some strenuous physical exertion including standing, climbing, crawling, and regular lifting of objects over 50 pounds.
