JOB DETAILS:
Cheshire Homes Society of Zambia (CHSZ) with funding from Christian Blind Mission (CBM) will be implementing a 4 year project in 3 districts of Lusaka province (Lusaka, Kafue and Chongwe) entitled: “Inclusion of children with neurodevelopmental disabilities”.
CHSZ is therefore looking for a Finance Officer.

The Project is funded by the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through CBM.
The consortium is composed of CHSZ CBID Programme (lead partner), Archie Hinchcliffe Disability Initiative (AHDI) and Zambia Association for Parents of Children with Disabilities (ZAPCD).
The project will lead to improved medical and rehabilitation services and home-based care for children with neurodevelopmental disabilities in the 3 districts of Lusaka Province.
Reporting to: Project Manager (working closely with the CBID and CHSZ National Office Finance team)
Location: Lusaka, Zambia

The Successful Candidate Will:
• Be responsible for all accounting and commercial activities of the Project with a full awareness of the General Acceptable Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal controls over financial reporting.
• Create and maintain the Project accounting systems, accurately inputting expenditure against correct codes and projects as per CBM/BMZ/CHSZ guidelines.
• Be responsible for and manage income received from CBM and Partners and to prepare accurate monthly financial reports, expenditure reports and any other reports as requested by the supervisor.
• Be responsible for ensuring that all staff receive the correct contractual salaries and ensure correct deductions are made and submitted together with returns on time to the relevant authorities.
• Contribute to the preparation of the annual, quarterly budgets and cash requests.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and submit to the CBID Finance and Admin Officer together with bank statements every first week of the month.
• Participate in the annual audits of the project finances with the support from the CBID Finance and Admin Officer.
• Act as a liaison between the project and the funder
• Ensure that processes and procedures organisationally and at individual project staff level, meet the project requirements for proper quality management and implementation of activities/interventions of the projects.
• Ensure that principles and practice of disability inclusive development are woven through the design and implementation of the project.
• Ensure that sub partners are developing and submitting quality reports on time.
• Undertake any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Essential Qualifications:
• Diploma in Accountancy or Level 2 ZICA, Level 2 ACCA or Level 2 CIMA qualification.
• Member of ZICA

Other Essential Requirements:
• At least 3 years’ experience working in in a busy office in NGO sector.
• Knowledge of designing and implementing financial controls and systems.
• A good understanding of budgets and strong financial management skills.
• Good written and spoken communication skills in English
• Good or Excellent Excel user.
• Knowledge of QuickBooks accounting package.
• Ability to work independently.
• Experience in managing institutional donor funds (e.g. CBM, BMZ, DFID, EU, and USAID).
