Reports to: Managing Director
Position summary
The Finance & Administration Manager is a contract position based in Kitwe reporting to the Managing Director. S/he will be responsible for providing financial management and overseeing daily accounting functions in an efficient and effective manner, to meet the objectives of the company.
S/he will be responsible for financial planning and reporting, developing budgets, and producing financial projections and analyses. S/he will direct and control all financial operations and be responsible for maintaining the accounting system to ensure accountability to the Board of Directors.
Main Responsibilities
1. Implement financial strategy.
2. Financial planning, reporting and procedure and policy recommendations.
3. Direct, plan, control and coordinate financial management and accounting operations of the company.
4. Enforcement of financial controls to ensure adherence to GAAP standards, corporate governance practices, and company regulations and policies.
5. Quality assurance of data in the accounting package and correct maintenance and backup of financial records.
6. Oversee day to day general accounting, including accounts receivable/payable, payroll, asset management, insurance, cash flow and petty cash management.
7. Ensure accurate pre-audit of procurement and payment for goods and services.
8. Prepare cash flow projections and analyses.
9. Monitor bank accounts and ensure timely and accurate bank reconciliations and as well as any bank related administrative requirements.
10. Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and the Board of Directors.
11. Prepare for audits and lead the finance team through the audit process, respond to and implement audit inquiries, findings, recommendations, and observations in conjunction with the Managing Director.
12. Consolidate and prepare annual budgets and submit periodic budget performance reports to enhance budgetary monitoring and control.
13. Ensure compliance with all tax requirements, statutory and legal mandates.
14. Train, mentor, and coach finance staff in budgeting, use of the accounting system, preparing reports, monitoring expenditure, et cetera, to build team competencies and ensure optimal performance of the finance unit.
15. Any other related duties assigned by the Managing Director and Board of Directors.
Qualifications, experience and skills requirements
• Degree in Accounting/Finance, full CIMA or ACCA, ZICA registered.
• 5 to 7 years’ post-qualification experience in accounting and financial management, with at least 3 years in the private sector.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Strong command of verbal and written English.
• Experience with Pastel accounting system desired.
• Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
• Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Able to work diligently and independently, solve problems proactively and employ good judgement.
• Able to collaborate with peers and maintain good working relationships with team members while retaining a high level of confidentiality and discretion.
