JOB DETAILS:
Job Summary:
The Freight Forwarding Assistant supports the logistics and transportation of goods, helping to coordinate shipments, manage documentation, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. This role includes maintaining communication with clients, carriers, and other stakeholders to ensure efficient movement of cargo.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Shipment Coordination
• Assist in arranging and scheduling pickups and deliveries via sea, air, and land.
• Support in selecting appropriate carriers and preparing monthly rate sheets under the guidance of senior team members.
2. Documentation Management
• Prepare and review essential shipping documents, such as bills of lading, invoices, and packing lists.
• Ensure documentation aligns with trade regulations and customs requirements.
3. Customs Compliance
• Work with customs brokers to support timely customs declarations.
• Keep informed on basic customs and trade regulations to assist with compliance.
4. Client and Vendor Relations
• Provide clients with updates on shipment status and address basic inquiries.
• Help build strong relationships with carriers, suppliers, and other service providers.
5. Problem Resolution
• Assist in identifying and resolving logistical issues in collaboration with senior team members.
• Support contingency plans for delays or other logistical challenges.
6. Data Management and Reporting
• Maintain accurate records of all shipments and assist in generating reports on shipment status, costs, and performance metrics.

Skills and Qualifications:
Education:
• High school Diploma or equivalent required; coursework in logistics, supply chain management, or business administration preferred.
Experience:
• Prior experience or internships in freight forwarding or logistics is beneficial but not required.
• Basic understanding of shipping procedures and customs processes is advantageous.
Technical Skills:
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Familiarity with any logistics software is a plus.
Soft Skills:
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Excellent organisational abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under guidance and manage time effectively in a dynamic environment.
