Musika is an independent Zambian non-profit company supported by the Embassy of Sweden, the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) and IRISH AID to stimulate and support private sector investment in the smallholder and rural markets.
Musika’s operations are national in scope and stretch across the agricultural industry, working primarily with those corporate entities in the sector that are committed to engaging the rural poor as their clients, suppliers and consumers. Musika provides its clients with high quality, commercially focused technical advice and business support to catalyse and strengthen mutually beneficial commercial relationships between the corporate and smallholder markets. Musika’s approach to reducing poverty and creating wealth in rural Zambia involves stimulating the development of a supportive market environment that provides long term and sustainable opportunities for farmers to invest in their own businesses and to graduate out of poverty.
Musika invites applications from suitably qualified, motivated and expe rienced Zambian Nationals to fill the following positions:
GENDER AND RURAL MARKETS MANAGER
The Gender and Rural Markets Manager will join the company’s Knowledge Management Department to drive Musika’s agenda of integrating gender throughout its various interventions and in the different markets within which it works ensuring women and men participate in and benefit from rural economic growth. Position to start as soon as possible. .
Key Responsibilities:
• Revising and implementing Musika’s Gender Strategy and supporting the tech nical team to mainstream gender issues into their work
• Preparing and conducting a series of research assignments that contribute to Musika’s understanding of the existing participation of and rel ative benefits to women in commercial markets, constraints to the inclusion of women in improved market opportunities and the impact of Musika’s interventions on gender dynamics
• Supporting Musika’s technical team and their clients in the development and testing of business models, products and services that have a specific be neficial effect on gender
• To lead in the ideation and innovation, opportunity identification and intervention generation process in a specific portfolio within the gender space that includes, but is not limited to:
• Knowledge and skills development related to gender in agricultural markets
• Engendering market interventions
• Gender responsive research
• Mainstreaming nutrition outcomes into agricultural market development
• To develop and maintain professional and institutional relationships with all key stakeholders (public, private and non-governmental) in the livestock markets and in doing so, create a platform for sharing information for the betterment of the market in general

Required Qualifications Attributes and Skills:
• Minimum of a Bachelor of Agricultural Sciences, agricultural economics, Development studies, Demography or equivalent
• Good understanding ofthe Market Systems Development (MSD) Approach
• Experience in GENDER IN AGRICULTURAL MARKETS
• Previous experience in practical or research work related to gender and economic development
• Previous experience designing, conducting and managing research projects, evaluations and assessments in Zambia,
• Strong analytical skills
• An ability to write clearly and coherently and articulate complex issues
• Good team leading skills
• Good communication skills – both oral and written
• Good interpersonal skills and abilityto work in rural settings when necessary
• Ability to multi-task
• Computer proficiency in word, excel, power point, etc.
