JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose-Head of Department: Nursing
• To plan, coordinate and supervise training services in the Nursing department and consultancy work in order to impart knowledge, skills and competencies to students for the enhancement of their performance in the Health industry.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Plans implement and control the Nursing department and ensure that all those who lecture on the said courses prepare acceptable teaching plans/schemes of work and ensure that the teaching resources of the Institute are used effectively,
• Counsels slow and poor-performing students mediate between lecturers and students and attend to student queries and problems,
• Attends internal and external meetings, seminars and workshops as required,
• Ensures that subordinate staff in the Nursing Department adhere to the disciplinary code of conduct and staff code of conduct and uphold the highest standards of professionalism and performance,
• Reconciles proposed timetables with lecturers and other programme coordinators to ensure that they do not clash and the course runs smoothly,
• Prepares and uses quality lecturing materials that add value to the students and contribute to the building of a positive image for the Institute,
• Lectures to students and sets and marks tests and invigilates examinations as required,
• Plans for and deploys teaching staff to meet course requirements and monitors their performance to ensure the provision of quality lectures and support to students,
• Coordinates with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia (NMCZ), so as to keep abreast with new developments in the profession and ensure that course requirements are disseminated to and met by students, the Future Today
• Assists in the recruitment, induction and guidance of new teaching staff in the nursing department,
• Serves as a role model in encouraging staff teaching on All nursing-related courses to question, discuss and evaluate practice in light of new developments in the profession,

Minimum Qualifications:
• Must At least have a degree
• A master’s Degree in Nursing Science degree is an added advantage
• At least 5 years of experience in College Training management
• Should be computer literate

Experience in Months: 60

Level of Education: Associate Degree
