JOB DETAILS:
• We are looking for 5 House Parent/s who would be directly responsible for the care and
well-being of orphaned children/youths in Wiphan’s safe homes/hostel, and indirectly involved
with discipling other children/youths in the ministry’s education and discipleship programs. This
requires living in a Wiphan accommodation with up to a maximum of 8 children/youths under
your care. The House Parent/s is/are responsible for creating a home that inspires faith in Christ,
where love is experienced, and academic achievements are encouraged. The House Parent/s will
work to accomplish the Wiphan Mission of eradicating poverty among orphans through
education, training and the Gospel.
Responsibilities
● Provide spiritual guidance, discipleship, and encouragement towards faith in Christ
● Provide basic medical care, report all medical concerns and advocate for any necessary
care needs for the children/youths.
● Encourage the children/youths to do any required homework, assist as necessary with
school work, and report any significant educational needs/concerns to the Welfare
department’s leadership.
● Be sensitive to issues related to a child’s background, providing a safe, secure home that
creates the opportunity to address past experiences that may still impact a child’s
self-image, behavior, and faith.
● Report any issues of concern to the Welfare department’s leadership
● Encourage each child in their home/hostel to excel in the opportunities God has given
them
● Follow all protocol related to disciplinary matters.
● Seek counsel from the Welfare department’s leadership in caring for the children/youths.
● Ensure that each child’s daily schedule is followed.
● Plan, budget, purchase home/hostel supplies, and organize meals for the children/
● Seek ways to improve the care of children/youths, always looking to learn to grow and
improve as a caregiver.
● Read, understand, and adhere to Wiphan’s Safe Home Handbook.
Required Skills/Abilities
● Empathy and firmness towards young people.
● Discretion and confidentiality in dealing with young people’s personal information and
experiences.
● Outstanding leadership and conflict resolution skills.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with various age
groups and have a high level of emotional intelligence.
Qualifications
– Devoted follower of Jesus Christ
– Minimum of a Grade 12 school certificate
– Proficient in English (speaking, reading and writing)
– Post-secondary education in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Nursing,
Counseling and related courses would be an added advantage
– Committed member of a local church
– Minimum age of 30 years old
– Willingness to live in a Wiphan House
– Willingness to undergo training in First Aid and Psychosocial counseling
