JOB DETAILS:
Job Overview:
The Information Security Officer plays a critical role in safeguarding the organization’s IT systems and data from internal and external threats. The officer will design and implement security measures, monitor network activities, and ensure compliance with IT security standards and policies. This position is pivotal in maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the organization’s data and IT systems.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Monitoring and Protection:
o Continuously monitor the organization’s IT systems for vulnerabilities, breaches, or unusual activity.
o Implement protective measures to ensure the organization’s systems are secure from unauthorized access or cyberattacks.
2. Threat Identification and Mitigation:
o Establish and maintain protocols for identifying and neutralizing security threats, including malware, ransomware, phishing, and hacking attempts.
o Conduct regular risk assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of existing security measures.
3. System Updates and Maintenance:
o Ensure that antivirus software and other security tools are regularly updated to combat emerging threats.
o Apply patches and updates to software and systems to close security gaps.
4. Policy Development:
o Develop and enforce IT security policies, guidelines, and procedures that align with best practices and regulatory requirements.
o Educate employees on the importance of cybersecurity and ensure adherence to security protocols.
5. Incident Response:
o Lead the organization’s response to security incidents, including containment, investigation, and recovery.
o Prepare detailed incident reports and recommend improvements to prevent future occurrences.
6. Collaboration and Communication:
o Work closely with the Chief Executive Officer, IT staff, and other departments to ensure that security initiatives align with organizational goals.
o Provide regular reports on IT security status and risks to senior management.

Qualifications and Requirements:
1. Academic Qualifications:
o Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
o Professional certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or CompTIA Security+ are an added advantage.
2. Experience:
o Proven experience in IT security, network administration, or a related field.
o Strong knowledge of security technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and antivirus software.
3. Technical Skills:
o In-depth understanding of networking protocols, system vulnerabilities, and threat mitigation techniques.
o Proficiency in security tools and software for monitoring and defending IT systems.
4. Personal Attributes:
o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to explain complex IT security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
o High attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
