Job Title: Lab Biotechnologist for External Quality Assurance and Control Unit
Level: 5.II
Reports To: Director of External Quality Assurance and Control Unit

Job Description
• Prepare and disseminate the schedules for document development and revisions;
• Technically develop of quality documents including manuals, policies, processes, SOPs, forms and guidelines;
• Monitor revision and maintenance of quality management system documents including manuals, policies, processes, SOPs, forms and guidelines;
• Participate actively in documents and revision sessions/ workshops;
• Implement the distribution and make accessible all quality management documents to all lab staff;
• Monitor the implementation of quality management system by lab staff through the use of quality management system documents.
• Continuously monitor and follow up implementation of national and international EQA in all sections as applicable;
• Continuously monitor and follow up implementation of national and international IQC for all tests in all sections as applicable;
• Continuously monitor the implementation of quality management system documents;
• Contribute actively to the implementation of the Stepwise Laboratory Quality Improvement Process Towards Accreditation (SLIPTA) including the Quality Management System (QMS), safety and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) in Rwanda laboratory network;
• Prepare schedules and conduct internal and external audits for the laboratory quality management system;
• Prepare and implement lab quality improvement projects through trainings, mentorships and assessments towards quality improvement and accreditation in the lab network including safety trainings, GLP trainings and SLMTA (strengthening laboratory management towards Accreditation) trainings.
• Prepare schedules and implement sample transportation from Health Facilities to NRL and results from NRL to Health Facilities;
• Receive, check, record/ log in LIS samples based on acceptance criteria;
• Ensure appropriate pre-testing sample storage as applicable;
• Dispatch samples to their appropriate testing sections;
• Monitor the implementation of testing related SOPs and guidelines;
• Regularly monitor lab quality indicators in all sections;
• In collaboration with Heads of sections, ensure appropriate post testing sample storage as applicable;
• In collaboration with Heads of sections, monitor appropriate results delivery to health facilities;
• Identify, investigate, establish root causes and propose corrective/ preventive actions for all non conformities/ occurrences;
• Work closely with Heads of sections and Directors of units for making preventive plan
• Participate in planned general meetings, unit meetings, sections meetings, self assessment and evaluation based on the approved action plans;
• Develop and implement laboratory quality improvement projects,
• Contribute to the review/ development of all laboratory quality and technical documents and records and provide in service training and mentorship as needed;
• Periodically report to the Director of EQA/ QC Unit as applicable.
• Actively getting involved in scientific writing/ publications, research seminars/ workshop, scientific presentations at conference
Job Profile
Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical laboratory sciences or in Biotechnology.Background in Quality assurance domain is an added advantage.
