JOB DETAILS:
• Impact One Initiative is a non-profit organization equipping community schools in Lusaka, Zambia to provide a quality education for their students. We provide our partner schools with training, mentoring, and networking opportunities to improve their management and teaching skills. We also support our schools with reading, technology, and creative arts programs. Along with our school-specific programs, we are also engaging the broader community with books and learning opportunities through our Library and Training Center.
• We are looking for a creative individual with a passion for exposing children to books and helping them learn how to read. In this position, the Librarian is responsible for managing and distributing our book collection, but more importantly for creating a fun, interactive environment for children and teachers to learn. Through our Library, we are equipping our 19 partner schools with books and resources, and also modeling best teaching practices. We are also serving the broader community each Wednesday by providing access to books and unique learning opportunities.
• We are looking for an individual who can coordinate our Library activities to help us achieve our educational goal of developing readers who can think critically and creatively. This person must be a strong team player who is able to contribute creative ideas, lead with initiative, and work collaboratively alongside our partner schools.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
• Coordinating Library visits for our partner schools including devotionals, read alouds, and educational activities
• Developing positive relationships with children during Library visits
• Engaging with the community members who visit our Library during the week
• Identifying any gaps in our book and educational resource collection
• Helping to source, organize, and maintain resources at the Library and Training Center
• Encouraging teachers to borrow and utilize teaching resources from our Library
• Managing volunteers at the Library
• Communicating with partner schools regarding Library visits and book loans
• Record keeping and data entry for Library systems
• Cataloguing books into the system

Qualifications
• Diploma or Degree in Library Sciences, Primary Education or other related field
• 1 to 2 years of experience working children, with experience in community development or education an added advantage.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in computers, specifically Microsoft Office
• Friendly personality and loves working with children
• Takes initiative and works independently
• Flexible attitude and a desire to learn
• A good team player
• A passion for the mission and values of Impact One
