MEMBERSHIP TO ACTIONAID ZAMBIA PROJECT ACCOUNTABILITY TEAM

ActionAid Zambia (AAZ) is part of the ActionAid Global (AAG) Federation, sharing common values and aims to drive social change towards a just, equitable and sustainable world. AAZ works with marginalized and excluded women and young people, their organizations and movements to address the structural causes of social injustice, gender inequality and poverty.
To enhance accountability and legitimacy of its work in Zambia, ActionAid Zambia is looking for eligible individuals to be members of its SIDA funded Project Accountability Team Member. The project started on 1st June 2024 and will end on 30th June 2028.

AAZ is looking for a member with diversity of background and skills in the following areas,
1. Financial Management with planning and Budgeting Skills
2. Grants, Compliance and risk management skills
3. Project Management (M&E Skills is added advantage)
4. Thematic experts in Health (reproductive health and rights)
5. Civic participation and State Accountability; Gender; and Environment
6. Climate Justice and Community representative (preferably a human rights defender)

The PAT Members shall have the following powers and functions.
1. Review proposals (approve and disapprove project proposals give clear justification)
2. Monitor compliance with regards to subgrating
3. To receive, deliberate on compliance issues related to the SIDA grant in line with Subgrating manual of ActionAid Zambia.
4. To receive, deliberate upon and approve all proposed amendments to the project activities and budget.
5. Provide technical advice on mitigation of possible risk (Political, health, environmental)

Our target primary group is:
1. Women, youth or men with proven leadership skills and expertise in financial management oversight.
Specifically, such an individual must be able to interpret financial statement, offer guidance to the general assembly, board and management in ensuring good fiscal planning, decision-making and oversight at a governance level. Must have good understanding of risk management.
• Minimum qualification is ACCA, BA Economics, BA Business Administration, BA Development Studies, Degree Monitoring and Evaluation and Public etc.
• At least 5 years’ experience in financial management at a senior leadership level
• Good understanding of Corporate Governance
• Membership to a similar governance body i.e. project Accountability Team, General Assembly, Board or committee etc. will be an added advantage

2. Women, youth or Men in the Legal fraternity
Specifically, such an individual must be able to analyze and interpret legal document and provide legal advice to ActionAid Zambia members to avoid litigations.

  • Minimum Qualification is Degree in Law from a recognized university.
  • Demonstratable ability to analyze and interpret legal documents.
  • Must be able to provide legal advice, guidance and support in any legal matters pertaining to the Organisation.
  • Good understanding of Corporate Governance.
  • Membership to a similar governance body i.e. General Assembly, Board or committee etc. will be an added advantage

  • Those who align to its values of Equity and Equality, Mutual Respect, Transparency and Accountability, Solidarity with the Poor and marginalized, Courage of Conviction and Humility to serve as members of its PAT.
  • MUST NOT BE IN CONFLICT WITH THE INTERESTS of the Organisation. Because of the work of ActionAid in governance and civic participation, tax justice etc. Those deemed to be in conflict with the above are not eligible to apply.
  • Must be in compliant with ActionAid Safeguarding Policy.
  • Must be willing to serve as volunteers.
