JOB DETAILS:
Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) is a nationally registered NGO working with development projects in the fields of education, health, agriculture and other poverty alleviation programmes. Projects are carried out in all the provinces of Zambia reaching over 1.2 million people. Key funding partners include the Government of the Republic of Zambia, national and international development organisations/agencies (USAID, EU, Global Fund, WFP and more) as well as private sector organisations.
DAPP in Zambia is inviting applications from suitably qualified, experienced, sober minded and matured individuals to fill the following positions at DAPP Mkushi College of Education.
The positions will be based at DAPP Mkushi College of Education in Mkushi.

1. COLLEGE REGISTRAR (1 POSITION)
1.1 Job Purpose:
The registrar shall be responsible for the provision of administrative and logistical support services, as well as overseeing student affairs, in order to enhance the operations of the college. The office shall also manage and develop human resources according to the organizations guiding policies to enhance performance.

1.2 Job Responsibilities
(a) Enrolment of students in order to facilitate the availability of course participants
(b) Provision of administrative support services in order to facilitate effective operations of the college
(c) Provision of student welfare services to provide a conducive learning environment
(d) Planning and providing support to core groups of students
(e) Teaching students in a specified study area of specialization
(f) Organizing and maintaining personnel records
(g) Preparing individual work plans
(h) Coordinating the preparation of annual budgets to facilitate the acquisition of financial resources
(i) Maintenance of college infrastructure and equipment in order to extend the life span and usability
(j) Updating and maintaining internal databases of key information
(k) Liaising with DAPP Human Resources (HR) office in preparation of HR documents, like employment contracts and new hire guides
(l) Management of human and procurement of other resources in order to achieve the set objectives

1.3 Job Qualifications and Experience
(a) Grade 12 certificate or its equivalent
(b) Bachelor’s degree in Public administration, Human Resource Management or related field
(c) Bachelor’s degree in any teaching Subjects will be an added advantage
(d) Minimum of 3 years of related work experience
(e) Must be a member of Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management (ZIHRM), with valid practising licence
(f) Must possess a Practicing License from the Teaching Council of Zambia, if having teaching background
(g) Must be computer literate
(h) Must possess good written English and spoken skills

2. COLLEGE LIBRARIAN (1 POSITION)
2.1 Job Purpose
To manage the Library in the college in order to support the learning, teaching and research activities of the college, as well as to provide a source of recreation among students and the college community.

2.2 Job responsibilities
(a) Providing required services for library users
(b) Using Determined Modern Method (DMM) of Teaching and Learning
(c) Coordinating with ICT personnel to teach students on the use of e-library services
(d) Providing suggestions to library users about new books to try
(e) Helping library users check out books
(f) Keeping a budget to repair, replace or get new reading materials
(g) Overseeing a team of core group students and core group teachers
(h) Organizing and managing all resources in the library
(i) Assisting library visitors in conducting research and locating resources
(j) Organizing all library resources so they are easy to locate
(k) Coordinating and creating community programs that increase library awareness
(l) Evaluating library inventory needs and placing orders
(m) Identifying technology needs and making recommendations
(n) Overseeing the work of other employees and providing performance feedback
(o) Ensuring the safety of the infrastructure and library resources

2.3 Job Qualifications and Experience
(a) Grade 12 certificate or its equivalent
(b) Bachelor’s degree in Library studies and having a teaching subject
(c) Minimum of 3 years of related work experience
(d) Must possess a Practicing License from the Teaching Council of Zambia, if having teaching background
(e) Excellent organization skills
(f) Good time-management skills
(g) Ability to manage projects and give presentations
(h) Computer research skills
(i) Must possess good written English and spoken skills

3. DRIVER (1 POSITION)
3.1 Purpose
To drive institutional vehicles and ensure that they are in good condition at all times. To take students on study trips and placement of students for teaching practice as well as to be readily available when called upon.

1.4 Job Qualifications and Experience
(a) Conversant with the operations mechanism of light vehicles and passenger buses; and ensuring that they are in road worthy condition, perfect state of cleanliness, insured and with valid road tax, etc., before they are used; and that they are driven on official duties only
(b) Strictly observes all Road Signage and Traffic Rules and laws at all times
(c) Performs routine checks of oil, fuel, battery, and clutch fluid and water levels in the radiator every day
(d) Ensures that all motor vehicle tools and accessories (e.g. spare wheel, jack, spanners, triangles, fire extinguishers, first aid box etc.) are in place and in good working condition, at the beginning and end of each day
(e) Ensures that the assigned vehicle is kept clean at all times by washing both the interior and exterior parts of the vehicle
(f) Reports any mechanical/electrical fault/maintenance requirements to the supervisor for timely rectification of the fault(s)
(g) Ensures that the assigned vehicle is serviced within schedule by reporting the mileage to the supervisor on time
(h) Ensures that passengers take safety precautions, such as wearing of safety belts, before any journey begins
(i) Ensures that every journey, fuelling/ refuelling are recorded in the Motor Vehicle Log Book and signed off
(j) Delivers materials and personnel to instructed destinations, ensuring safety at all times
(k) Ensures security of the vehicle at all times and that the vehicle is parked only in a secured place when not in use
(l) Conducts a weekly checklist of vehicle condition and submits to supervisor for review
(m) Takes students on education tours in-country and abroad
(n) Reports any instance of mishap or accident to the supervisor for timely action
(o) Performs routine office errands as assigned

3.2 Job Qualifications and Experience
(a) Completion of Grade 12 level of Education
(b) PSV Drivers’ licence with eligibility to drive buses carrying 69 passengers
(c) Valid Police Clearance Report
(d) Knowledge of basic mechanics
(e) 3 years’ experience working as a driver preferably in a Non- Governmental Organisation, Government institution
(f) Experience in providing administrative assistance to a development project
(g) Excellent knowledge of traffic rules and road laws of Zambia
(h) Basic computer knowledge will be an added advantage
